Hmmmm, not to be out done by my cousin, who has posted a New Years Eve post (well, 1/2 post) I too shall post on last night.

As it was, we had invited many people, knowing most wouldn't show - in particular cause they'd all flown to Dallas, TX. Put's a damper on things, yeeees. But, my dad's cousin and her kids (Keith and Nick) were supposed t'come once their dad got back from work, and so mom, true to form, made us pick up the house.

Pushing 7:00 at night (with an expected arrival at 5) dad went to call them and found a message from earlier that morning saying something'd happened at work, so they likely weren't gonna make it. Of course, we hadn't gotten the call.

This, however, isn't all bad news. You see, with the size of my family alone, we ARE a party. ^_^ And aside from that, it meant more mini quiche for me!
Mmmmmmm, mini quiche....

Sometime around, uhm, sometime, I'd hopped online (not EXATLY hoping to see someone) and talked with Nifer. The poor girl was stuck at home, at about 9pm your time, and her parents and grandfather were all asleep. So she'd decided to entertain herself with a lil drink and online solitaire. On the plus side, she was winning.
Poor girl.

I had t'get off for dinner, and then we watched a Double Feature - The Princess Diaries and Left Behind. The diaries was pretty cool - oddly humorous, the girl was quite pretty (showing once again how ephermeral *big word for not lasting* beauty is) and, uhm, there was something else...But she was cute. As for 'Left Behind', it was most preciecly like an episode of 'Touched By An Angel' except it lasted for 2 hours and wasn't very interesting. At all. Lucky for us, my dad came up with some good MST2000-esque quips, so it wasn't A COMPLETE loss. Not completely. It beat 'Ebenezer'.

Ebenezer is a movie I've never seen, but my brothers envy me for it. For, uh, not seeing it, that is. Yeah. Picture 'Scrooged' except not funny, and it's in the Wild West. Yeah.

So, if my brothers will cease, I'll continue. About then Jen, Shawn, Mom, and Dad, along with most everyone under the age of 10 slunk off to bed (note, this was afterMidnight, where by there was mich clinking of glasses, drinking of champaign, and couples kissing - well, not so much of the kissing). So, me and 'The Boys' stayed up a bit later and watched some of the Kenshin OAVs. We got 1/2 way through all 4 when, at 3:00, Tim crashed and Josh groaned, so we cut the program short. I proceeded to play Civilization III, until 4:00 when Josh met his match and found solace in his pillow. Soon there after, I too bit the bullet, and went to bed at 5:30 - I wanted to be in bed before sunrise. it's rumored Gene went to bed as the sun awoke. Tim woke up this morning at about 8 (the same time Gene went to bed?). I awoke to the lovely concerto, presented by my youngest sister, Emily, and her powerful set of lungs. It was about 10:00 then. Long after, Josh was next, followed even longer behind by Gene, who awoke at precicely 1:00ish, PM

Uhm, I think that's, uh, the end, but, uh, I've lost my train of thought. We're, uh, starting the movie now - 'So I Married An Axe Murdurer' A classic, I'm told.

And so, I leave you wonderful people.

Well, gee, I seem to be a little behind the curve. I'm the only one yet to not have a Christmas-type entry up here (well, except for Rachel, but hey...). yeah, so, let us go there.

Christmas at my place is always an event. I mean, for weeks before the actual day, it's just...fun's not the right word, but you get the general idea. Nedlss to say, it's been "Christmastime" since I got here. A week or so before Christmas day, we go shopping - and I mean massive-mobgroup-shopping. The family heads out to the mall, en masse, and we look around, decide what we're getting for who, and then mis padres make a trip to pick up all the gifts. This year, however, I was responsible for myself, and so i was buying the gifts when I decided what I wanted t'get people.

Now, maybe that has t'do with it, but somehow this year I really had fun with it. I mean, yeah, it's always nice t'get someone a gift, but I mean this year it was really fun. I had decided before hand (about 3 months ago) that I wanted t'try and get something for everyone. i got Tim a...gee, what DID I get Tim? Ah yes, I got him a Bionicle Lego set, and two booster packs of Magic: the Gathering - Odyssey cards. Then I got Josh a couple of books (one based on M:tG and one based on various White Wolf games) and a couple packs of Odyssey cards. Greg got a Dinosaur Lego set and two boosters, and then Gene I gor a Nakururu (That's spelled wrong) action figure - she's Gene's fav character from Samurai Showdown - and then I got him the Heros Unimited main book (that's an RPG), and a couple packs of Odyssey boosters. Finally, I got Jen a $20 Blockbuster card and an Odyssey Pre-Con(structed) deck. Gee, I seem to sense a running theme...maybe it's me. ^_^ I got some other peoples gifts, and sent out some cards, but peoples haven't recieved them yet, so I shut my mouth.

Christmas Eve, of course it also big. See, every Christmas, my mom makes this sea-food dinner, with scallops, crab, shrimp, and this spaghetti with sea-food sause instead of regular sause. Sea food's big in our family. Then we head off to bed, but not before opening a single present, of our parent's choice. Traditionally, they get up each pajamas to open on Christmas Eve, and true to form, they did. Then, into bed.

You'll notice I did not say 'to sleep'. No, you see, few of us sleep easily on christmas eve, yours truely incuded. Me and the boys were all in Gene's room (that's where I've been staying, with Gene and Josh, and Tim's in there too since the little people took over his room) and we speant a few hours playing Magic (of course). Then we fitfully struggle for rest. All an exercise in futility, of course.

Some time around midnight or two-AM, we fell alseep. Or, I fell asleep. I think I did. That's beside the fact. I was up at 4:00. No, not by choice - you see, long ago my parents decreed that if the sun weren't up, neither were they. Those two or three hours between wakefulness and sunrise are often the most interesting. Next year, me and my brothers are going to bring in water and snack-food - we were all quite thirsty, but, you know, you can't leave your room christmas morning until it's "time".

Sunrise did come, and with the first rays of the sun, Alex (my newwest nephew) made sure his parents were up. And mine, for that matter. ^_^ Again, we had to wake the little people - Greg, Beth and Becky. Slackers.

Now then, seeing as about 1/2 of my fmily, plus two nephews, are under the age of ten, Santa Clause still deigns to visit our humble home. Luckily for us beyon that Magical Age, he still leaves us gifts too. Score! ^_^

From Santa, I got a mouse with a scroll key and a laser-tracker (no dam track-balls for me ^_^) the Diable Battlechest (that is, Diablo, Diable 2, and the expantion), the full version of Musicmatch Jukebox, and an Uber-Set with chess, backgamon, checkers, mancala, dominos, and cribage. Yeeees, fun stuffs.

And, of course, Christmas is only complete with the Tree, and ours is, needless to say, ALWAYS swamped with presents. in a family of 11, it happens, ne? From that I got some 30 M:tG cards, a Rifts book, the game of Go (^_^), a deck of Legend of the Five Rings cards (new edition, too) and some clothes. I should think it was successful, ne?

::Grins:: There was also one other Christmas gift. SHE said it wasn't, but I don't believe that. She sent me another role-playing book: Ninjas and Superspies. Over 35 different Martial Arts, baby!

The clever girl also sent me a bag of candy, marked "Andy's Kisses." Sweet, yes, but clever in this - it was filled solely with Andes Mints and Hershes Kisses. Yes, Yuk it up. Yuk it up. ^_^

....Though, when she ever started calling me "Andy"....
