There are not words to express the... anger I feel at reading This. A kid is arrested for opening a Christmas present early. Well, OK, he's arrested because his mom called the cops on him because he kept dis-obeying her. And I'm skeptical of how much ADHD plays into this, mostly because medication isn't doing anything.

This isn't the first time I've heard of parents calling the cops on their kids for misbehaving, and the simple fact that they would, and have, and... It's beyond my scope of understanding.

People who can't parent shouldn't have kids.

Even if it isn't failure as a parent that they couldn't instill patience in their child, court is a long term punishment, not a short term one. Saying "You got to play with the toy but you're really going to regret this when you turn 18!" is the worst possible way to teach the child a lesson. Even a simple solution like not letting the child play with the gift until febuary shows the child a punishment that directly relates to the disobedience.

I think it's possibly a good thing she's turning him over to the state. If she thinks that the police are a good solution to a problem like that, at least she realizes she isn't fit to properly raise him. The only odd thing is that he isn't her first child, the video showed his older brother. You would think after one, she might understand children a little better.
