Playing Games

So, I'm trying to not get my hopes up.
In fact, in one sense, my hopes are rather low, but...
The internship people are still dragging their feet about giving me anything definite; neither I nor they have written since Friday, which is really only a couple days, but... Laurel thinks I should give them a little, "look, I have to get stuff for my apartment and paperwork stuff filled out, so when am I going to have an answer on this?" And part of me thinks I should, because this is rather ridiculous -- I started talking to them in April, and talked about it with those connected to it a couple months before then. And on top of that, even if they're figuring on me not starting until July 10th, they're expecting me to move across the country in under a month, when I *still* don't know anything from them?
But. I can't really believe they aren't going to give it to me. It's just the timing that's sucking, and that's making things difficult on me. I gave my landlord my 30 days at the end of May; he said I'll be fine if it falls through and I let him know I'm staying before the end of the month. I've split my stuff into "Store" and "Move" piles, packed almost everything up, and rented storage space down the street today. Laurel took my bed and desk tonight. I'm pretty much banking that I've got the position.
I'm going to be rather pissed off if this falls through.
But, the reason that I'm posting is that assuming I've got this, I'm going to be back East. And while I won't be within a reasonable distance to the gamers I do know (all you in DC), I know there ARE gamers where I'm going (Leslie, I'm not looking directly at you, but in you general direction...) and I'd like to try finding them. In particular I'm looking for people who might be interested in playing World of Darkness, but I may even try a DnD game again if the group doesn't suck. (Daniel's game renewed my faith in the system, even if I missed most of the play time; how's that going, anyways?)
Failing that, I may try to do that World Of Darkness Online bit I mentioned in passing earlier. So just to get an idea of what interest I have, who on here would be interested in a dark modern fantasy RPG played through some online medium (email, message board, etc) with something like a once- or twice-weekly posting frequency? I wouldn't require much knowledge of the game mechanics since I'm far more interested in telling a good story, so don't be deterred if you've no idea what I'm talking about (and if you're the sort that loves mechanics, don't fear that I'll skimp on them too too much).
So, what say you all? Know any gamers out there, or have any interest in running a game with me?

Where are you going to be? That'd help a lot. I know a few WoDish gamers in some "back east" kinda places, and a few online venues as well.

Date: 2006-06-08 03:28 pm (UTC)White Wolf keeps a modded nWoD chat on their own website and I know some people there. I used to be the head werewolf guy in their oWoD modded chat before the Time of Judgment thing, and even though I stepped down after destroying the world to live my own life, I still know a person or two. WW also has a service on their website to help you find local WoD players that you can check out. Some people have contacted me via that in the past, so it seems to work.
For oWoD, things are a wee bit trickier, as the places seem to come and go. I know a someone that plays on Digital Dreaming, which seems to be ongoing. She's a hard sell and seems to liek this one. You could check out Shadows on the Bay, but I can't remember where I got that link and don't know if they're any good. I also know some people on Sierra Dreams, and though I haven't played there, I'll admit I'm a bit leery of them based on what I've heard from a couple people that play/played there.
