Spring Break 2004

So, right, here's an account, more or less, of my adventures this break. It's really more for my memory than anything else, but you're free to watch, if you want.
Leslie
Well, I picked Leslie up on Sunday, leaving here right after Mass t'go get her in Virginia. We took time down there to have lunch with her boyfriend, Mike, and their buddy Chris. It was quite amusing. We sat and ate at Uno's (I think that's what it was, right?) for a while, just chatting and joking around and stuff. Chris was a cool enough guy, and it was good t'see Mike again.
We took a long ride up from Virginia to my house, talking about sex and religion, if I recall correctly. that pretty much sets the stage for all the other conversations that weekend. We got to my place and my mom made pizza (her home-made pizza has a legendary reputation) while the Little Ones attacked Leslie. After pizza we took a walk around the neighborhood and chatted about Life and Love, specifically where we think we want to be in the next few years. It's a scary thing, at least for me, and I feel as though I'm in the middle of a flux... Or something... We also watched Gatacca, which was a really cool movie.
On Monday, we got up and went up to visit Louis, who's back in town due to a leg injury. We hung out at his place for a while, watched Underworld (which was cool, though it matched my opinion of Blade -- really cool until they tried to have some kind of a conclusion, then it just kinda plumitted), and after he made some shrimp-and-linguine for his family, the three of us went out for sushi.
I almost know my limits for sushi now -- if I hadn't have ordered that teriyaki steak, I would have been good, but as t was I had to leave two pieces of unagi (*cries*). I've also decided that I should stop wasting my time with the other sushi -- unagi's really the only thing I'm interested in. From there, we took The Long Way back to Louis's, convinced his mom and Christine to let us watch Resovoir Dogs, which I think I liked -- I need to see more Tarantino films, I think. We played some Double Dash, which was cool but, I think, a little below the bar set by Mario Kart 64. That may be me, though. It's creative, but it's tracks leave a little bit to be desired, and it's multi-player formats are really a bit of a disappointment.
The next day, we got up and kinda bummed around for a while before heading out to get an oil change for Aycesis (my car, pronounced 'Isis,' like the Egyptian goddess), and then headed down to Fairfax to have dinner with Beth H. And wow, but does Beth have a nice place! Jenny said something along the lines of 'yeah, but she only has the basement,' but even at that it's amazing! Wow!
Anyways, we went to Outback, which was cool and stuff. The three of them had drinks -- martinis, mostly, though Louis and Leslie did Car-bombs, which looked interesting -- and we spent a good deal of the meal discussing each others sex-lives. That is, they discussed, and I listened, as I have little to say on the matter. :-p It was cool, and stuff, and then we took Louis home before Leslie and I headed back to my place to crash. The next day I took her back down to Virginia Beach, where she was ancious to see Mike on his day off.
Mina
I then had to drive from Virginia Beach to Longwood College, as I was supposed to go see my fiends Mina and Liz. Unfortunately, I didn't know where I was going, and the best I could get was Mapquest, which took me all the way up to Richmond and through a toll road, which wasn't cool.
Mapquest, it seems, hates me... or something... It took me through Richmond, which I'd become familiar with while dating Claire... It took me down Hull Street, which led past her old Highschool and the Taco Bell where I'd met her for her show choir competition... -smiles- I didn't even recognize her that night, with her make up and her hair all done in curls... And as I past, Seven Marry Three's song "Lucky" decided to play, which was the song that was playing as she and I sped down I-95 after the Snowflake Ball... Not, y'know, that I ever think about it or anything... -smirk- Yeah, that's enough sap for this post...
I got down to Longwood eventually, and Mina and Liz took me up to their room where we hung out and chatted and stuff. Liz took some time to go swimming, giving Mina and I time to catch up for the two years since we last saw each other. It was cool, we talked about people and things and stuff -- I really like Mina. She also told me a story about a foolish guy leaving a nice girl to go be lonely in DC (hint: it's not me), so yeah, such and stuff... Later on, e also got to talking about Programming and Set Theory which was, as she might say, hot. -grins- I also explained numbers to her as a funcion of bases (decimal as base-10, binary as base-2, octal as base-8), and she seemed to understand it, at least a lot better than any way it's been explained to her before. So that was cool. It was funny, cause she and I were getting all excited about it, and Liz was utterly lost. Mina also showed me a few things on Vampires, including a gigantic Vampire Encyclopedia and a decent-if-odd vampire-esqe story, "Sunglasses After Dark." Generally, I'm not sure I like Collins's take on Vampires exactly, but it was an interesting read... And a nice insight into how one might make a suitably insane Malkavian, but...
I stayed in their friend Jess's room, as Liz is trying to get an RA possition, and they're technically not allowed to have over-night male guests, so she coulda gotten in trouble for it and it seems her suitmate would like to see that happen. On Thursday, I hung out in their room, reading while they were at classes, and then had dinner with them and Jess, and then headed out around 6 or 7 or so...
Jenny
I had promised Jenny that I'd come and visit, and I did. From Longwood I headed out to Newport news, which took me about three hours -- though, Mina told me how I culd get to I-64 without going through the toll, so that rocks. I got to Jenny's around 9:00 or so, and played a bit with my niece, Stephanie, before Jenny and I ended up watching Bring It On, which was actually a pretty good movie... And the actress who played Missy was really pretty... Eliza Dushku, I've heard that name before... Doesn't look like she's done anything really interesting, looking at IMDB....
Anyways, got up with her to go pick up The Boys for the weekend, and then headed out after CiCi's Pizza for lunch, getting home around 7:00 last night... Nothing really spectacular, but it was good visiting, and it was nice seeing my favorite niece, too. Her boys are cool, too, and Alex is a card -- great smile on that kid. though, I think luke was mocking me...
And I suppose that's that... a bit less defined and more sketchy than I'd've wanted, but it'll do... or something... My plans now are to get my stuff back to the Dorm t'morrow after Mass, pick Beth H. up at the airport, and then head out to Christendom in hopes of seeing Suzannah and maybe learning a bit more of dancing... Whee.

Date: 2004-03-07 10:00 pm (UTC)I would, except that my brek ended tonight. Plus, with Louis here in Maryland, I have o where up there to stay.
Worry not, I'll get around that way again, sometime.

Date: 2004-03-06 10:00 pm (UTC)I had a really great time. Thanks for the opportunity and the fine company. Glad you liked "Gattaca" and think you like "Reservoir Dogs". If you're gonna see another Tarantino movie, I gotta reccomend "Jackie Brown" or "Kill Bill" over "Pulp Fiction", even though "Pulp Fiction" is his most popular and widely-loved movie. It's good, but I only really like the end of it, whereas "Kill Bill" is pretty much wildly entertaining, and "Jackie Brown" is a cool pseudo-blaxploitation heist movie.
