Ugn, pain.
I'm never eating chinese food again. Something I ate last night is clog-dancing around my insides, and making me generally not-well. Add that to the fact that, once again, I've come to work wihout ating something first, and I'm slighly-less than utterly miserable. -winces- Three more hours... I found a slightly-crumpled box of chocolate pockey in my backpack, though, and it's staving off the hunger pains. Chocolate soothes an upset stomach, right?

A few randomly late points from my break... Saw Liz from Virginia Beach in Annapolis. She's going to Longwood, and was visiting with a friend for Thanksgiving, so she invited me over for a day. It was cool, and we chatted and stuff. Her friend's friend (who is apparently moved into her friend's house since graduating college) was really nice, really pretty (in my opinion), and kida funny, to boot. She ate lunch with us ad chatted for a bit, but then she wandered off downstairs or something. It'd've been nice to see more of her, but I was visiting Liz, anyways. Who, oddly enough, is moving in with Mina, a mutual friend of Claire and myself, next semester. What a small world, indeed. I'm going to have to visit them dowqn south next semester.

Talked with Ms Becky Croft last night, in passing, which was cool. We didn't say much, as I was just getting on as she was just getting off, but it's always good t'see her around. She had an extra day of Thanksgiving Break compared to me, and her school's in a series of Trimesters, so she doesn't have exams until after Christmas break. I might see about visiting the Crofts over Christmas break.

I also need to see about getting together with Claire, and Beth H, and Suzannah... Whee. So much to do, plus work, and classes start up again on Janurary 12th. I told my sister I'd go down and spend New Year's with her, cause she can't go anywhere, apparently. She said I could 'bring people,' but who would I take to my sister's for New Year's? Maybe I'll bring a bottle of champaign... or wine... or both... mmmmm, cheese...

Two hours, fourty-five minutes. And I'm sitting here watching as a new piece of junkmail falls into my mailbox every four minutes or so. But, my stomach is feeling better... Maybe I'll survive yet...

Imagine a Grizzly Bears (2/2 without flying) and a Gaea’s Skyfolk (2/2 with flying) facing each other down. The Bears can decide to attack, but it cannot hang back to block. (Well it can, I suppose, but it’ll end up with a severe neck strain and a mild sense of disappointment.)

Politics in Magic is a lost cause. The only recourse, after you’ve rejected the forms it takes above, is deception and misdirection – to convince the rest of the board through talk and jive that you’re not the threat, some other guy is. (This is the equivalent of negative campaigning, in the political world.) How successful you’ll be depends on how easily fooled your friends are; but I’d submit that in Magic at least, this strategy has a short life-span. After all, how many times can you successfully fool a table, win, and then expect them to fall for the same trick twenty minutes later? (Based on the increasing success of negative political campaigns, I suppose I’m suggesting the average Magic play group is smarter than the average democratic voting block. So be it!)
---------------------------------
Just in case you're not swinging with this beatstick (and what 2/2 for four colored mana wouldn't be in a beatdown deck?), you can hold it back and annoy those players who happen to have artifacts with activated abilities...assuming they can't pay W. ("Daaamn yoooouuuuu, Fellllwaaar Stoooonnne!!!")

Someday, if you work really really hard and write every week for three of the best hobby internet sites in creation, you too will be able to drag readers along on a paragraph about a mammal that spits, smells bad, and snorts pessimistically at every opportunity. (Come to think of it, this could be a paragraph on many guys I went to college with.)

MtG.com makes me giggle.

I think, thanks to Anthony, I've decided that Emperor Magic (both as an Emporer and a Lieutenant) is my favorite format, even beyond the classic Duel. And that flavor! Just immagine a Triumverate of Wizards battling to control a world... If you play with me in Magic, I highly suggest you read those articles, as I think I may try to get more 3v3 games going... Or, beauty of beauties, a 3v3v3 game...

RoliasNoom is reborn! Well, on the Wizards.com message board, at least. I went to check out the Emporer Format posts, and apparently they purged the account I'd made with them back when I started school. I guess that's what happens when you go inactive for a couple years...

Josh -- since I registered and all, why not point me towards this Arena of yours, and prefereably somewhere that I might digest the mechanics of the place.

My roomies all need to read This. Once again, I agree with Anthony -- Politics in Multiplayer Magic is asking to be hit. One thing I noticed with Chris in particular is he doesn't realize the power his deck weilds -- both in that he neglects to use the powers he weilds (Isocron-Counterspell) and when he DOES weild them, he's surprised at how devastating they are (Parallax Tide). I can't yet decide if he simply isn't watching the board, or if he's honestly underestimating his own power.

Hey... Got a new icon. Decided I like it better than my other Me for the Default pic. What do you guys think? Can you read it OK? Any suggestions?
