"Personally, we like you..."
You know it's a bad sign when they start it off like that.
I had to meet today with my two bosses, Karen and Lenox. It was rather like being sent to the principles office. They were upset cause I didn't come in to work all last week, and I was upset because I'd told them I wasn't available and they didn't bother to tell me when I was supposed to work. In any case, we worked it out, and it seems they were as confused by my availability as I was by their new schedualing, and Karen admitted that I had told her I was going to be gone 9though she didn't quite appologize).
Lenox was funny - he didn't really say anything, just let Karen do all the talking, and I got the impression he was there just because it was expected - but maybe so that it was 2-on-1, who knows. I kinda like Lenox, he's firm but kind. I like to think I can get along well with him. Karen, on the other hand, has always had that sourly-sweet taste of falsity - the type of person who acts friendly, not because that's how she feels, but because it disarms others, you know what I'm saying? Almost an insincere kindliness.
Not that I have anything personal against Karen, that's just how she comes off to me.
In the end, though, I think they just wanted to be sure they could count on me to show up when I'm schedualed, which I think is rather absurd seeing as the whole thing was started because I was unaware of the schedual in the first place. I accept responsibility on my part for being unaware of the schedual - I should have called to find out, but at the same time I accuse them because they made no effort, even when I didn't show up, to let me know I was schedualed.
Having that all worked out, I now know when I'm schedualed for the next week and a half.
So, I think that comes out to, what, 36.25 hours in the next two weeks? That's not bad. if I can keep up with it, maybe I'll get my financial feet back on the ground and get my Computer Upgraded like I wanted to. I already told them about the two times in November that I'm going to be gone, and let them knmow when in December I'll be back home. It'll be cool.
And with that, I think I'll go take a nap or something....
