Dam, this really got long...sorry bout that, but thought I'd update on my weekend...
Well, let's see - this weekend was tribute to the insanity which College life can be. You don't get these kind of oportunities when you're younger, and I fear I may not have such a free life after College. Live while the living is good!
Anyways, I got up for Class on Friday, only to decided that I would have been just as well off skipping. She didn't teach much of anything new - though I will admit she did clear up a few things from the Homework. And she didn't even get us our quizzes back!
Anyways, I went back to my room and muddled about until 1:30, at which point I grabbed my stuff, hopped in the car, and was off. It was pretty straight forward -- take I-270 to I-70 to I-356 or something, down Penn to Aiko and around to the back of Silent Storm. But given all that, I no longer trust MapQuest. This took me through a Turnpike which cost me $5.00 at the end. That hurt. It's also been noted that the directions I got from them to get to Claire's takes me all the way around the wrong side of Salisbury - just to get me on a $0.75 Toll Road!! The bastards. As such, I'm now only going to us MapQuest when absolutely nessisary.
ANYWAYS, I finally got there and went in to a near-empty coffee house. I say near-empty because there was me, the staff, some wierd guy with a large, skraggly beard - and Jim's Big Ego. ^_^ That was cool - I didn't become a puddle like some Leslies I know, but it was cool. The guy behind the counter reminded me of Parker, mostly for his pants. You could see his toes, but not his heals...
Anyways, I took a look at the menue and instantly decided it was a place Claire would love - it was all Rabbit Food!! When Leslie got there, I ordered a Chocolate Milkshake and a "Quiet Salad" which was actually REALLY good. I love salads. But I did was something with a bit more substance to it.
Uhm...So, yeah, Leslie got there, and I gotta check out her drawings while she checked out, uhm, the band... She's really a great artist, even if she doesn't think so. We sat and talked for a while about everything and nothing all at once. Then the bands came on - it was funny, cause first I heard Jim was comming on at 7:00 - then Leslie told me it was 8:00 - then the poster said 9:00 - they didn't REALLY get on till 10:00. ^^;; But yeah, Top Ten Idols came on, and they actually sounded pretty good. Sadly, like a lot of bands these days, they sounds every similar between one song and the next, and it didn't really strike a cord with my tastes - BUT, they did sound good, and I liked their music, so, yeah...
Anyways, Jim came on and...wow. His first song, "You Can Trust This Face," was hillarious! And the facial expressions - he's just so cool. And his music is anything but cookie cutter - ever song is quite unique. And I LOVED it when he covered someone elses song, ESPECIALLY in the middle of She's Dead.
After a while, Jim hadda give an amp back to Top Ten Idols, and so the took a break to get that taken down. I convinced Leslie to go up and ask Jim about playing "Porno Plot," and when she was too nervous, I went and asked him quite point blank - but sadly, he didn't have a whammy-bar or some-such, and couldn't do it. While we were up, though we talked to a girl who prolly wasn't as old as I imagined... leslie said she was flakey, and I'm sure she SOUNDED the part, just the way she spoke, but I didn't notice anything else. Well, 'sides the fact that she'd only heard ONE song by Jim and was then set to talk to him, but...
So Leslie and I went and sat for a while talking, until the point that Jim announced he couldn't play cause they were closing, and he was sorry. About then Leslie started commenting on how it'd been worth the drive, and caught Jim's attention. She told him how we'd come all that way to see him cause he never makes it down south, and he commented that He'd recently played in both DC and Salem - except before either of us were there. And we chatted a little about nothing in particular and at one point, upon learning how far we'd come, he was like "Whoa - you guys have a place to say, right?" And I assured him yeah, we're cool - we're CRAZY, but not THAT crazy. I didn't tell him our 'place to stay' was another 2 or so hours away, but...
after that, Leslie and I, psyched to no end, went and got our cars and stopped by Wendy's to get some eats, and we sat and talked and I had her listen to some of my music - I've decided I LOVE this "Shining Thing" mix CD I burnt.
Notably:
So, yeah, I REALLY like this CD. Uhm, what else...? We got back to Leslie's at 3:00am, and I gotta see Da Beff again for the first time in a long time. ^^ She's really cool. *flatter flatter* She came in and chatted with me while Leslie went to say Hi to Rae. Themn the four of us stayed up untril, like, 5:00am doing alot of nothing. Then we slept until noon, where upon I had to leave as I had other commitments to keep. I then drove ANOTHER 4 hours back to DC, getting there at about 5:00 and showing up for the last half of the LAN party, where we played some massive Unreal Tournament (I owned on that Low-Grave place, heh heh heh) and some StarCraft (the Zerg shall assimilate all - resisance is Infantile). Afterwards I gotta talk with Joe, which was really cool - I was feeling a little down at the time, and I rather admire Joe (even if he doesn't realize it) and the fact that he'd want to talk with me and such... ^^;; I'm such a weirdo.
I got back to me room and chatted with a couple of dear friends through e-mail, and started to feel alot better. It was rather a rough night, I'm glad they were there - though it was late, and so I know I said some foolish things to each of them which I'll regret, I know. But it was good.
And, uhm, yes. I think that's quite enough. ^^;; I'll let you on your way now.
