Searching through Kincaid's old posts (again) I've found the closest thing, I think, to a reasonable stand on gay couple adopting:

(9) Do you think homosexuals should be allowed to adopt? - I don't think it should be an issue. Theoretically, shouldn't adoption rights be given or denied on the ability of each individual set of prospective parents to raise a healthy child? If a homosexual couple is unfit to raise a child, shouldn't the standard tests reveal that unfitness regardless of whether the couple is homosexual or not? Even in the profoundly unlikely event that most homosexual parents do the same thing wrong to screw up their kids, shouldn't the adoption process remain open to gay couples who don't do whatever that mysterious thing is?!

By the same token, I'm not quite secure in this. I've found moral reasons for why I'm against gay marriges and gay sex, but I find no real moral crisis with gay adoptions. So, I think, until presented with such a moral issue, this would be where I stand. Maybe.
My traditional reasoning, however, still makes me tend towards the notion that adoptive parents should be married, and as my earlier arguments preclude that from gay couples...
On yet another side, it's been pointed out a grievous number of times all the skrewed up things that straight couples have been guilty of doing with adopted children. ><* I makes me nautius to think about. So...I'm still not sure where I stand.

^^ My, what a productive post...
