Oh, yes, Journal - right.

You know, it just occured to me as I was eating lunch that I should, you know, UPDATE this thing. ^^;; The test was right when it said I was a Columnist, not a Diarist - I do like to present deep thoughts and interesting (or just strange) ideas rather than pick through the mundane details of my life. But, half the reason I decided to start this thing up was as a tool to help me remember things. ^^;; We all know how bad I am with that.
I can't remember the last time I really 'updated' this thing - the summer, it seems, is really a boring time. I guess, thought, that it would probably have been that day I went to visit Jackie, my friend from years ago who just popped up here, married and Expecting. So, I'll see what I can find from that point until now that's not completely banal.
Banal, adjective: lacking originality, freshness, or novelty : TRITE
synonym see INSIPID
Etymology: French, from Middle French, of compulsory feudal service, possessed in common, commonplace, from ban
Date: 1840
I love Webster.com. ^^;;
Moving along - as I'd said, seeing Jackie was really cool. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say so (seeing as she's married and expecting a kid and all - I donno what's 'allowed' alotta the time) but she's a really pretty girl. ^^;; And it was cool to just hang out and laugh and stuff. But I'm sure I went through all that already. She wanted me to go back and visit again the next day, but I backed out of it, and I kinda felt bad. ><* In either case, I donno when the next time I'll see her is, as she's outta town now (I think) and I'm gone in a week...
I guess that was just this past Thursday, right? On Friday, I did alot of nothing, and it was kinda cool. I'm not sure if the days go by faster here at work or back at home. In any case, we Downloaded a program called RPGMaker2000, which (as expected) lets us create FF4-esque type video games. So, I worked on that quite a bit, and took a few cat naps (mrow). Something happened that evening...but I'm not really sure what...hmmm...
Saturday was another simple day of sitting around and such. My parents had a little dinner-thing they had to do - a group of adults who get t'gether once a month at someone else's house and have this Class A dinner. Mom made (get this) - Shrimp Cocktail and stuffed Portabello mushrooms for the appetizer, salad and roasted pork in Mango sause, and home-made peach pie for dessert. Wow, wow, wow. ^^ Mom's a great cook.
Sadly, us kids got Subway. ^^;; It was cool, though, cause we ate it up in my parent's room and we rented "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - The Movie," a classic. ^^ I peg that up there with "Super Mario Bros," though not quite at the same level as "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" or "Princess Bride," y'know?
I also took Greg to the Saturday evening Mass cause he was going camping, starting early Sunday morning. This further means that I got to stay home with Becky and Emily while the others went to Church the next morning.
Of further note before we head on into yesterday, we went and got The Computer - the one that was hooked into our Cable Modem and had EVERYTHING on it - fixed. The CD-RW drive was wrecked. Sadly, it'll be in the shop for the next two weeks. AND, since we don't have another cable-ready computer, we're on Dial-up for the rest of my vacation. ><* I did, however, get to play Gene in several games of Magic on Saturday night, so that was cool.
Sunday Morning is when I felt the full implications of being Cable-less. It was me, Becky, and Emily. They wanted to watch Sunday Morning Cartoons, and I went to see if any of our other computers were cable ready - though the only one I could (easily) move was the laptop. I thought to try moving the Laptop to where The Computer had beed, and just plug the mouse and monitor and cable into it there. But then I found that I didn't have the right socket on the Laptop. I lay down on the couch, defeated.
I was informed, however, upon the arrival of my parents, that we still had dial-up (They'd had some yearly agreement or something) and promptly went to check my mail. For several dozen minutes, I felt connected to the world again.
That afternoon, we were going to my Aunt Katie's for a bar-b-que, cause Uncle Mark was in town, and I think it was Uncle Paul's birthday. There were tons of peeople there, just cause if you get (almost) any three portner families together, there are alot of people. ^^
A little anecdote - there were lots of sodas there. Everything in diet. O.o If there's one thing I hate, it's ignorance. If there's TWO things I hate, it's ignorance and diet soda. O.o
But, I saw Paul with a can of REAL Coke, and asked him where he got it. Turns out, he brings his own cause they NEVER have real stuff. :-p So, I resign myself to 7-Up and cherry-soda-juice-stuff. But wait - lo and behold, Uncle Paul comes not 15min later, bringing a REAL can of coke, for me! The man's a Saint, I tell you. ^^;;
Anyways, yeah, it was cool - I gotta see my cousin Erin, who's now almost 13, and I haven't seen her since she was, like, 9. Her brother, Tim, was there, too, but I donno how old he was. O.o He and Samantha and The Little Ones spent alot of time in the pool. It was cool.
After that, we went over to my Cousin Erin... ... ...heh, that's kinda funny. Anyways, we went to her house after that - THIS Erin is, like, 24 or 26 and from my MOM's side of the family. So, we went there, and saw Erin, and her brother Wes, and his Wife, and my aunt and uncle, and another cousin or two. ^^;; My family, we never do anything small. ^___^
Then, I guess, we went home, and got back at about 11:00 or so, when I promtly (or almost promptly) went to bed, and quite easily, too.
Today's been an experience, though. I got up at 6, as usual, and left at 6:45. But as I was approaching the gate I realized I'd left my badge at home!! So, I had t'go around and get a temporary badge so I could get into work today. But wait - not only that, but my temporary badhge won't open the door to my building, so I needa get security to let me in whenever I go out (only twice, t'day). Then, out getting lunch, I went to Taco Bell (of course) and got Three Been Buritos (of course), and the tab was $2.88 (of course). Which I paid (of course) in all nickles (jigga-what!?). Well, OK, not ALL nickles - I had a $1, 3 quarters, and 3 pennies, but the rest was all nickles. ^^;;
And finally, for a little cake on the icing, I have no projects to work on today. ><* I've completed most everything I've been working on, but my boss has been really buisy with this transition they're making, and hasn't had time t'give me a new project. I. Am. Boredom.
Last week of work. I want to go east. I want to see my friends. This summer stuff is over-rated.
