I get so incredibly discouraged whenever politics comes up in any of my friends' groups. It seems like 87% of my friends are all on the other side of the political fence, and while I think the diversity in my friends is great and helps keep me (mostly) sane and reasonable, I can't help but get the feeling that I'm terribly out-numbered, uninformed, unenthusiastic, and insignificant.

Don't worry about (1), read more if (2) is true (and it'll probably help with (3)), and as for (4), well, you know, your vote counts as much as anyone else's.

I certainly don't think you are uninformed or insignificant. I think you are a highly intelligent and just because we differ on political issues I would never think the less of you because of it O_o I think this election just has a lot of us extremely worked up and that is coming across more.

Andrew, keep the faith man. Continue to think for yourself, look at the issues and come away with your own opinion and with conviction.

Most of my friends are on the same side of the political spectrum as I am--in fact, almost all of them are rather moreso. My best friend and her family--all of whom I adore--however, are... decidedly not. It can be discomfiting to be amongst people who hold pretty opposite views--I've seen it from both sides of the fence. On the other hand, I've found that it's actually helped me figure out exactly what I believe about some things.

Also, I think the number that you're looking for is 83%

Nah, I just made that statistic up on the spot.
