Being a researcher in computer vision, I am excited to see vision research making its way into consumer devices.
But being an avid anti-comcast consumer, I must agree, this is just horrifying.
I am sure that comcast will post some ridiculous privacy statement with the device that says they won't record you, or access the camera remotely, but whose to stop hacker-X from doing it, or a court order.
The ironic thing here is that they are probably doing face detection/recognition, which doesn't work if you aren't looking at the TV. Would it be so hard to push a button on the remote to identify which user you were?
