I am in Nirvana.
Uhm, let me explain - I just started working.
Uhm... let me explain further.
OK, so I didn't JUST start working - I started yesterday. Some 15 to 20 of us new employees showed up at Human Resources early Monday morning (7:15 to be exact). Of those, there were 6 of us who were Student Aides. one I learned was going to start college in Baltimore this comming Fall, and another I found only lives down the street from me, some 2 miles away. With any luck, I may be able to get out of the house yet. ^^;;
Sadly, I'm not working with any of those 6 - or any of those TWENTY for that matter. We had all applied for different departments, and quickly split ways after the 2 hour orientation. Moving along, however, I got to my department where I was given a desk (not quite a cubicle, but very cubicl-esque) and a computer. Infact, my computer is better than my boss's because all his administrative stuff is on the other one. ^____^
I got a key, and an Id, and logged onto the Network - that's where Nirvana comes in. There are several clusters on the Network - Aurora, CanisMajor, Polaris - and Nirvana. ^^;; I'm on the Nirvana Cluster. I find humor.
My hours are 7:15am to 4:45pm, with 1/2 an hour for lunch - a 9-hour day. Today I started on a Webpage form powered by ColdFusion (a very HTML-esque language). of course, we had many problems actually HOOKING me up to the network. In the end, it was all good.
So, all in all, I'm working some 40 hours a week, getting ever other friday off, and making roughly $10/hour (before taxes). It's not so bad, seeing as I'm working with computers and more or less flying solo. It's better than flipping burgers!
