Whenever I visit Walmart, I'm reminded of two things:
(1) People disgust me.
(2) I'm a horrible person by having no sympathy for those less fortunate than I.

People less fortunate than you can still have class, it's just that the ones at walmart choose not to.

You remind me very much of Alex in this entry, and as such, it's a wonder you and I aren't more compatible romantically.

Knowing what I know of Alex, I'm not sure how to take that.

::laughs:: There were good things about him too. And just so there's no confusion, he and I both used to cringingly admit to one another that we sneer at people in Wal-Mart. Horrible, yes, perhaps, but true. Alex and I definitely lived out our elitism in full with one another. I remember, he used to actually dress up to go to Wal-Mart and try to have serious philosophic discussions with empty-eyed employees. It would both amuse him and drive him crazy when, at best, he got good-natured but baffled smiles, and at worst, he got nothing but a blank stare.

Even now, I can't go into a Wal-Mart without feeling subtly superior to everyone around me. Maybe that's part of the reason I avoid Wal-Mart the way I do. I don't necessarily think elitism is a bad thing...sometimes very much the contrary...but I still don't like to go in there just to stoke my own ego.

I kind of feel like those people are victims of the society, so I can't hold it entirely against them. I always feel like thats what "the man" wants everyone to be like: consumers.
