It's well known that I have a large family. It's interesting to see where the birthdays lie, though. Gene's in Janurary; Jenny's in February; Beth, Emi, and Dad are all in March; I'm in May; Greg and Becky are in July (or is Becky the tail-end of June?); Tim is August; Mom is September; and Josh is October. So March has the bulk of our birthdays.
On Sunday, Beth turned 12. I think. The only thing I have to go on is the fact that I was 12 when she was born, and I'll be 24 this year. If I'm mistaken on any of that, Beth could easily be a year older or younger than I claim. But I'm pretty sure she's 12. Beth has taken to books like a fish to water, and I enjoy encouraging that. (In truth, I enjoy encouraging all my siblings to read more, but Beth has be the most responsive.) For her birthday I got her a copy of Gulliver's Travels (might as well start them on the classics, ne?) and Alanna: The First Adventure, which I think no fewer than three of my good friends all said they read as little girls. Beth also said she wanted Anime, specifically mentioning Sailor Moon and Card Captor Sakura; so I got her Castle in the Sky, which I think is generally a superior work.
Yesterday, Dad turned younger-than-I-though-he-was; I did the math this morning and it turns out he's only 48. He's always been young for having so many kids (he was 23 or so when Jenny was born, that's younger than I am now!), but 48 seems really young to have several adult children and four grandchildren. I haven't yet gotten him any sort of gift because he's significantly harder to shop for than my sisters and I haven't had much time.
Emily's birthday is on the 7th, and she's about to turn older-than-I-thought-she was. I think Emily was born older, really. I'm pretty sure that she was born in... 2000? 2001? Something like that. So she's 6 or 7. I need to get a better reference for her. Anyways, I bought her a plush cat from Amazon. Nice and easy, and how could she not like a plush cat?

Date: 2007-03-06 07:58 pm (UTC)I'm pretty sure Emi's 6 tomorrow (which makes Luke older than I thought he was). And I'm positive Becca's birthday isn't in June--I know it's after Greg's.
While I'm on the subject, there are so few of our ages I'm sure of: I know mine. From that, it's all a matter of derivation, you're about a year older, and Josh a year younger (depending on the time of year it's +1 or 2 for you and -1 or 2 for Josh). And then I know that Jen is a little more than a year older than you (+2 or 3 from mine), and Tim is about two years younger than Josh (-3 or 4). Greg, in turn, I know to be about five years younger than Tim (-8 or 9). Beth is 12 this year, so then I now know that she is a little more than a year younger than Greg (-10 or 11). Becca is about two years younger than Beth (-12 or 13). And Emi is about four years younger than Becca (-16 or 17). Luke is a year older than Emi (-15 or 16), and Alex is a year younger than her (-17 or 18). Stephie is about a year younger than Alex (-18 or 19). And Cait is 1 this year (-21 or 22).
Don't ask me about Birthdays though: I'm Jan. 10th, your May 10th, Josh's Oct. 16th, and Greg is July 5th. That's as far as I know.

Date: 2007-03-06 08:07 pm (UTC)Key points of reference for me are, well, me, Greg who's 10 years younger than me, and Beth who's 13 years younger than Jenny. I lose track of our youngest sisters because they're no firm reference for them and they don't fir the 2-year patter of birth the rest of us do.

Tell her that if she finds a means of income, I'd be more than happy to share my Barnes and Noble membership with her, and she can send me money and a list of books she wants and I'll get them for her at a discount.

Date: 2007-03-07 01:04 am (UTC)As noted above, she's already done! I kid you not, I called less than two days ago, late at night, and she hadn't even opened my package. And now she's done! Mein Gott!
