OK, so this is actually pretty interesting: in light of Episodes I-III, perhapse there was Far More going on in Episode IV than it would at first seem.

(Frankly, I don't count Eps. I-III as canon, but that's because I think they just Mess Things Up.)

Reminds me of my spin on the Warhammer world.

Though in my defense, my deviations mostly begane before a lot of that world's metaplot was firmly established. I had already developed my own spin and then their version started careening wildly in a different direction. I was old and crusty enough to spit upon their silliness and carry on my merry way.

Emperor Karl-Franz Holswig-Schliestein is suddenly a mighty warrior and the greatest statesman in the Old World? What? The earlier sources universally describe him as an eccentric nut that got the job only because the rest of the Electors regarded him as the candidate least likely to rock their balance of power...

Never mind what I did to Bretonnia.
