Wow.
I don't even know where to begin....
I suppose the beginning would be good.
This weekend, Claire came up to visit. Because of some "Imporvisational Parenting," she didn't have her car, and was comming up by train - sety to be here at about 4:30. Sadly, her train was delayed. Infact, it was delayed several times. Long story short, she ended up getting here at about 6:30 or so (or was it's 7:30...?)
Anyways, we were going out to dinner with two of my friends, Trevor and Rose. trevor's my room mate next year, and rose is his girlfriend. So we met her at the metro - they waited in the car while I went down to metter her.
This, of course, was the first time I saw her new hair cut. let me just say "wow." It's a known fact I've always had a thing for hirls with long hair (likely part of why I was innitially so attracted to Claire0 but it's also been shown that a number of girls look really good with short hair. I must say I rather fell in love with her new cut. Yeeeees, all night long.
I drove to Tyson's, where we were having dinner at PF Chang's, and it was fun, for me at least. I had just burned a CD of Savatage songs and (though a few less slow songs would be better) was quite proud of it and introduced the three of them to one of my favorite Bands. Trevor said me and him would get along great cause our musical tastes are so similar (though he's goit a wierd thing with volume...), abd Claire seemed to really like "At The Iron Hill" (said it'd be great for a Highlander Movie). Walking through the mall, an odd parrallel was drawn. It seemed Trevor and Claire were very similar in a number of ways (the more out-doorsy of the for of us and such ) whereas me and Rose were at the opposite end of the spectrum (more city-goers, for example).
We stopped in to a Chesapeake Knife Co (I think it was) and saw some AWSOME blades. Up on the wall they had some ornate swords (one or two of which I believe were modeled from the LotR series0 and some really-cool looking knices on the counter underneath. The guy there and an awsome (what I would call) Irish accent, and the lady showed me and claire a little spring-assisted knife she had and some very neat looking pen-knives.
Dinner was amazing. PF Chang's is this nice Chinese restaurant there, and the food was great - even the rice (which is saying alot comming from me). I had some mongolian beef (dear lord that was good) and Claire had some spicy chicken stuff (I borrowed a few pieces...). our waitress was just the coolest! She brought us refills on drinks even before we thought about it - surprised us the first time! She was also really friendly, and actually chatted with us some. ^___^ She told us we were making her lonely, but then said it was ok cause her Husband was waiting for her at home. And showed us her ring, as though we didn't believe her! LOL Later on Claire folded her napkin into an oragami crane (yes?) and our waitress (Angela - she told us to come back and ask for her some time) loved it and put it on the hostess stand. THEN, to top everything off, she came out with a HUGE piece of cheesecake and said that since we were such cute couples (and Claire was so good with Oragami, it was on her. ^^ Free Dessert! We all agreed that we'd leave her a nice tip, in the end.
Not to mention she was very pretty...
After dinner the four of us went back to CUA and we hung out in my room for a little bit. John wasn't there, so he didn't meert Claire, and it actually turns out that all weekend we'd just missed him, comming and going. we headed back to Gramma's then, but seeing as it was late when we had dinner (started eating at 9:00) and then we stayed at CUA for a while, it was nearly 2:00 or 2:30. Grandpa was up waiting for us, so I kinda felt bad about my decision not to call them, since it was well after midnight. Gramma was asleep, though, so I felt a little better. We said good night, and called it a night.
In the morning, I went and Got Claire Up, and we had breakfast at about noon. Then we were off and to the Mall to get my Tux rental (nearly $80) and Claire laughed at me for not comming out of the dressing room bare foot (confusion). It was kinda fun, in the end. ^^
We left the Mall at about 2:00 and went over to Tina's for minigolf with her and her friend Sara. Sara was a blast. She was really bouncy - litterally! She was jumping around every where, it was hillarious. We drove down the street to the mingolf place and had a grand time going around the course - it's been SO long since I played minigolf. Claire, I believe, won in the end, but I was 3rd (poor Tina hit 4th) and then we went back to Tina's to play some Magic. I tried running a 2-on-2 Multiplayer game, but ended up grabbing a Pacifist deck ( I don't MAKE those) which was good in that it could withstand Tina and the MegaSquirrels, but it contributed in part to the game dragging on so long. It dragged SO long that we called it when dinner was served. O.o BUT, we did have spaghetti, with meat balls and sausage, and salad - and bread! I love bread.
At about 8:00 we left cause we were supposed t'get t'gether with Trevor and Rose again for a movie. However, my phone went out, and Trevor had to change plans - we got lost, couldn't find the movie anyways. In the end we hung out at CUA for a little bit (again, no John) but Claire was feeling sleepy, so we headed back and got to Gramma's at about Midnight. Claire was a little hungry, so we had a couple bananas and something to drink. I wanted to play Magic and have a few cookies, but it was late, so we just said goodnight and got to sleep.
Sunday, I got Claire up at 10:30, just after my grandparent's went to mass. We were going to 12:30 mass, so I figured we might as well get ready. Gramma made us scrambled eggs when she got back at 11:30 and we had some English muffins. I was a bit chilly cause I'd only brought shorts and it was cooling down, but Claire had come prepared. Mass was, I think, quite discouraging. As we all know, I'm a rather devout Catholic, but I never claim that everything that ever has to do with Catholicism is perfect. The people there seemed lifeless. The priest (like so many I've come upon) was a really funny, intelligent guy, but you had to really listen to what he was saying to pick up on it. The choir was, simply put, bad. It's great of them to volunteer their time, and I don't discourage them from doing it, but... And they sang some rather obscure hymns. As I said, it could have been better.
When we got back to Gramma's, she was still getting ready (whereas she wanted to be well gone by the time we got back) but they were shortly out the door. Claire wanted to get changed, and so I busied myself with a few things. After a while, it occured to me that it shouldn't take THAT long to change and, not wanting to walk in on her, I knocked on the door. Entering, I found her changed, but sprawled ourt on the bed, so I had to get her up again.
We were on the road to Susie's at about 2:00, but I think it was after 3:00 when we got there cause of an accident on I-495 (of course). It was kinda raining all day, and I liked that. At Susie's, most of the people (My aunt's in-laws) I didn't recognize, but there was a great number (our side of their family) who I did know. Tina was there, and me, her, Claire, and Danny (Tina's lil Brother) played a couple games of Pool. My team lost both times, but at least the first time it wasn't 9all) my fault. We got some food (pork and chicken and beans) and then Johnny got there, so we started a 4-player Magic game. This time we played that you could attack either opponent, and I played an aggressive deck, but it still took quite a while to play. It was me and Claire vs. tina and Johnny, and as expected they ganged up on me and generally ignored Claire. I almost bit it, too, until I drew a Strength of Lunacy and played it on my Pacified Repentent Vampire. That saved me, and in the end, the life totals were Johnny: 5, Tina: 8, Me: 4, and Claire: 20.
Before our game ended, Gene showed up though, and I was REALLY excited to see him. We started bantering aboutr Magic and RPGs and stuff, and it was just too cool. I'd wanted to get a multiplayer game going with him, but I had to leave to get Claire home in 10 minutes, so I paired Claire against Gene and I played Johnny 1-on-1. Uncle Bill came by and said "hi" to Claire, and I said "Oh, yeah, this is Claire." And he said "OH, the Claire." I guess maybe she comes up casually in conversation once in a while....
Claire and I got out of there, only about 5 min late, and Gene stunned me again by complimenting Claire's hair - Gene's always been a shy kinda guy....
The ride back with Claire was great. I would almost say it was the highlight of my weekend, except for the fact that the whole time was so grand. She called her mom, who still didn't believe I wanted to drive Claire back. We talked about a number of things casually - what things might be like in five years, seat belts, music. I was supposed t'get her home by 8:00, but I found out just then that I was taking her to pick up her car, not straight home, which adds 1/2 an hour to her trip, and thanks to some wonderful traffic, we didn't get to her car until about 8:30. THEN, we couldn't find her car keys! O.o After a little searching, we found them stashed in her purse (figures, yes?). We said good-bye, and took two different ways out of the place, and I lost track of her.
Dreiving down I-64, though, I ended up behind this car going the speed limit, of all things. Hey, wait, that looks like an SUV. A green SUV. And that looks like Duo on the back (for those who can't pick this up, Claire drives a green SUV with a Duo decal on the back window. So, being me, I honked at her, and then sped past. A little bit later, I gave her a call on the Cell - "I saw a PrettyBuny."
I went back to Gramma's at about midnight (after splurging at Wendy's for a snack, though I'm thinking I might like taco bell more...) and played a few games og Magic before getting in bed at about 2:00.
