I'm interested to follow up more on This Article , or, more specifically, following up on the subject of memory, false memory, dreams, and further implications.

From the comments:
If you have the time and/or inclination, read up on the research of Dr. Elizabeth Loftus. She (and others) have demonstrated that it is trivial to create false memories in people. More importantly, once a false memory has been created, it is otherwise indistinguishable from a real one. That means a person cannot rid themselves of a false memory any more than they can rid themselves of a real memory. The implications of this are significant.

I know for a fact that some of my memories are false/never happened, but I still can't get rid of them.

So, yeah. These researchers get that. :)

I wonder if, perhaps, given enough time et cetera, a dream could enter into one's canon of "true" memories. Now, I don't believe that Josh will ever believe that I actually claimed "People who eat white cake are witches," but, perhaps, a more mundane dream, some oridinary conversation for instance, might eventually be classed as "true."

I'm reminded of stories I've heard, where someone remembered telling their best friend/girlfriend/spouse about some party/difficulty/plan, but they never actually told that person.

"Well ... I thought it real hard."
