So, Trevor and Rose just called. Specifically, Rose just called. Earlier in the week (on my birthday, to be exact), Trevor called me while I was in class and left a voice message asking if I'd be in DC this weekend. As I'm still in school the answer was "no," but I didn't feel like making calls to anyone of my birthday (I tend to keep quietly to myself on that day, actually), and I forgot to get around to returning his call. So, Rose calls to see if I'm in the area 'cause they're going out to dinner, and I say I'm not, which is unfortunate. She says alright, they're going to head out, but Trevor says I should give him a call sometime.
So they hang up, but even before they do I know what they must be thinking -- I don't think it's ever been an accident when Rose calls me, and I actually think that Trevor thinks I don't like him much. (To clear the air up on this one, as some of you may have similar notions -- Trevor got under my skin a lot when we lived together, but mostly because of the way he treated Rose and his poor taste in giving me a hard time about Claire. He's not a bad guy, just unintentionally inconsiderate, and he's been getting better about that, slowly. So, there's the nutshell-version.) Add to that the way I seem to always be able to pick up when Rose calls and never able to when Trevor calls, and it doesn't take much to imagine he might think I'm specifically avoiding him.
So we get off the phone and I send Trevor a text to the effect of: "Just FYI, I'm not specifically avoiding your calls; just bad timing. Have fun at dinner." And he writes back something like, "LOL, did you read our minds? We were just talking about maybe you were. Thanks for the FYI."
-smirk- So, maybe I had more special knowledge in this case, but I like to imagine I know people, generally.
