jackofallgeeksMost of you know that I'm something of a Role-player. Even if I almost never get to play in a campaign, or have a game run more than a few weeks, I love playing, and I love thinking about the Worlds that these games encompass, and it is quite possibly the biggest creative influence I have. Most of you know I'm a huge White Wolf fan boy, and that I've supported a number of small and independent games because I love this stuff.
What most of you probably don't know is that it was Rifts, by Palladium Books, that first got me into any of this at all. And what even I didn't know until a couple minutes ago is that Palladium Books is in danger of going out of business!
Most of you aren't gamers. Those that are often don't 'do' table-top games, or haven't heard of Palladium. And I have to admit that there's a large group who have heard of Palladium that don't like their system. And that's OK, I don't hold it against any of you; it just leaves a pretty slim base of people I can really call upon to help out for love of the game.
So if I can't do that, I'll ask you to help, as you can if you can, as a personal favor to me. Palladium is the victim of treachery it seems, and the sort that our omnipresent legal system isn't able to resolve favorably, and that makes me sick. It reminds me of the sort of trouble that Connecticon got into, and they were saved be Teh Intarwebs, too.
On the plus side, there's an easy way for you to help out and actually get something worthwhile, regardless of if you like Palladium or even games at all. They are producing a quasi-limited print, hand-signed and numbered for $50 + S&H. It will be an 11x14 piece of back-and-white fantasy-type artwork that will be produced for everyone who orders a copy. Presumably, it'll be the sort of thing that will become a collector's item that you can sell on eBay to fanboys like me a few years down the road for some quick cash. At the very least, it should be a pretty thing to have around, and it's for a 'good cause.'
Anyways. Like I said, I owe a lot to Palladium, and they don't have to die like this. If you can help them, please do. I'm going to go see if I can drum them up some revenue; I've bough White Wolf books galore, I owe Palladium a little bit of loyalty in this dark time.
