Those are Serenity characters... but the quotes must be from Firefly, which I have yet to see. Sad day. I LOVE that movie. Bought it immediately. Have it memorized already. AMAZING.
I saw the movie once, didn't understand that much, saw the series and realized I had kind of ruined alot of it. When I watched the movie again, I knew what happened so it was ruined, but I finally understood everything that I should have already known.
Wish I had known, since they never made a second season (or even finished showing the first) I'll never get to watch it like I should have.
Strictly speaking, they're Firefly characters who just happened to be in Serenity. -grins- But yes, they are characters of the series, arguably two of the favorites (not my personal opinion, but...), and it's great. I just finished watching it all (finally) on Monday.
I have to say, though, that I agree with Jenny; watching Serenity first is doing it backwards and may be a disservice to you. That having been said, don't let having seen the movie keep you from watching the show! The unfortunate bit is that you've seen in snapshot the characters as they had developed in Firefly.
I had only a few complaints about Serenity. First, Simon's cool, but he's not that kind of bad ass; or, rather, the escape they show in the beginning is not the way it would have happened. At all. Second, we never got to find out about Book; Firefly lets you know only that there's *a lot* to find out about him, and Serenity robbed us of that. And though River played out as she ought to have, I think it should have been... less abrupt. But that may be me.
And watch the pilot episode. That was what hooked me right from the start, and I'm aghast that they didn't air it until later in the showing of the series. That episode says everything there is to say about Mal, everything, but I had to watch the whole rest of the series before I understood that. It is amazing, that episode.
I will say, though, that toward the end the scripts seemed to be stretching, and I think they were right to take it off the air. Which is sad, because the characters are so amazing, and the world so grand.

I love that show. All 14 episodes of it.
