Today was a 'Good Day'

Today started about, oh, two or three weeks ago, I think. Claire told me that she was going to be in DC this Friday and Saturday, and had nothing on Friday to do. She said that she could be here as early as 1:00, and odly enough, that's when I get out of classes on Fridays. It later was revealed that I'm on my Easter Break this weekend, and have NO classes on Friday, so attempts were to be made to try and spend the entire day together. Claire had vague notions of having to be back at the hotel before 9:00, but if she got here at noon, that's nine hours. Not too shabby.
The first disappointment came the other day. Claire told me her mom wasn't going to let them up here any earlier than 3:00, because that's when they could check into the room. Aside from that, Claire couldn't use the car, and I had to meet her at the hotel. Not good news for one who had hoped to have a number of better options. But, after smoldering a few hours (and some Ramen soup) it was bearable.
The second disappointment came spread over this after noon. First, they hadn't left until 1:30, so they weren't going to be here until 3:30. Then, they hit traffic (Gee, on Easter Weekend? Who'da thunk?), and so wouldn't be here until 4:30 or 5:00. Five!? I was highly not-amused.
Mercifully, it was about 4:30 when they got here, and I met them (after quite a hike *whew*) at the Hotel. After getting there stuff settled in their room, Claire and I went down by the Jefferson Monument (that's not the Pointy One) and saw the Cherry Blossums. It was really nice, walking down there with her (awwww), and the sunset was really nice, red and orange ijn the clouds over the water.
At about 6:00 we headed back to school - Her mug was there, and so were my Magic cards and Chess, and I'd wanted to play with her. We played, and were enjoying ourselves so much, that she called and cancelled dinner with her mom to buy us some more time. We started heading back to her Hotel at about 9:00 when we realized - she'd forgotten her mug!? (Dam, she'll have to come back another time to get it...) After a short episode of getting psudo-lost, we got back to her Hotel and played some Magic over a bag of Goldfish Soup Crackers (original flavor). Sorta ran into a guy and his friends who played Magic - his original deck being Burn, and his current childe being a Blue Flying deck. It's refreshing to see Players now and again.
As I left (which neither of us wanted) she gave me food. ^^ She shouldn't have, but it's quite appreciated. Yogurt, String Cheese - AND CRISPIX! See the joy. ^^ So, I trekked back to my room and, ordering some Chinese food to top off the night, sat down to reflect and write this entry.
Today was a good day.
