I don't really know what to say about this.

My favorite:

The waitress at the restaurant didn't say anything, probably because I am mistaken for Mariah Carey all the time. Except for the goatee and the back hair, we are like twins.

I think I'd have to agree, though I'm having trouble envisioning Mariah Carey without back hair.

You worked retail, did you ever check signatures?

We never accepted credit cards. Or, when we did, I never worked the register.

It doesn't surprise me, really, that it'd be a little slack. I mean, yeah, we're not forensic experts, I can't be sure if it's his signature or not. But I know he isn't Zeus. Or Mariah Carey. And I would at least HOPE that signing 'istolethiscard' or 'pleasecheckid' might at least warrent some investigation.

Nobody ever signs the backs of their cards. I haven't, and the only customers I ever see that do sign it PLEASE CHECK ID, which I don't need to since the ID was checked to pull up their account. Plus, when you have a line, checking the signature is rather wasteful of time. People also get upset if their credit card goes out of their site for even a few seconds, so the second I scan it, I hand it back, even before the computer's through processing it. Thats why places like 7-11's have the signature pad on the customers side nowadays, cause people are too paranoid. Now, if it's things like the person signed a drawing or a grid, I'd have to notice that, but people mostly don't bother signing their name anymore, even some of my coworkers don't. Most people just have a squiggly line that trails off like the heart monitor of a dying patient.
