So, the other day, I was talking with my friend Eileen and I sumbled over to her Userinfo page -- and I was shocked by all the bolded interests, meaning that they were shared between us. In fact, I don't think anyone I know shares as many (lj-professed) interests as she does.
But it got me thinking, "how many interests DO I share with people." It's an interesting though, especially if you consider what differences you might find between RL-friends and net-friends. So, I thought I'd make a little poll-thing of it.
Step One: Go to my Userinfo and list all the Interests that we share.
Step Two: Pick an Interest (or three) from my list that you're surprised to see there, considering how you know me.
Step Three: Pick an Interest (or three) from my list that we don't share, but that you might want to hear more about.
Step Four: Pick an Interest (or three) from your list that we don't share, but that you think I might find, well, interesting.
And hey, if you want to yoink this and spread it around your own circles of friends, go ahead; I won't say you have to, though. Unless you're
raen. She has to.

Okay, I'll bite.
Date: 2005-09-01 11:24 pm (UTC)2. Androgyny and multiple personality disorder are the only ones that semi-boggle me.
3. Apologetics, Kabbalah
4. Androgynes and elitist bitchery. :3
Re: Okay, I'll bite.
Date: 2005-09-01 11:45 pm (UTC)2. OK, before I say anything, I'm curious for a little more detail on why you're boggled.
3. Apologetics is really kinda cool, in that it's the reasoning behind the faith -- something I think you would certainly appreciate, at least on an intellectual level. It is, sadly, something I think is sorely missing from our culture, and the American churches in particular; that is, a real understanding of the faith.
Kabbalah's cool, too; jewish mysticism, though I'm afraid that may come too close to boxing it in. It's what numerology and a lot of what's associated with western wizardry came from. It also talks about the tree of life, the sephiroth, and a kind of spiritual ascention, which I find fascinating, but I've only ever scratched the surface.
4. OK, so androgyne:androgynous::man:masculine, yes? In that case, I think I've already got the Interest covered, but I've never found (or, admittedly, looked for) much of it arround.
-laughs- And Elite Bitchery... hmmm... I don't know that it would qualify as an interest, really, but I'm sure I could engage in it if I tried.

3. And what are Apologetics?
4. Androgynes are androgynous women. I ♥ them.

3. Uhm, well, as stated above, "Apologetics is really kinda cool, in that it's the reasoning behind the faith -- something I think you would certainly appreciate, at least on an intellectual level." It's, uhm... The more intellectual and philosophical reasoning which leads up to the different tennants of the church. No specific examples come to mind, though I have a few books on the topic around here somewhere.
4. I can't seem to find much of anything in the way of androgynes. Curiously, is there an equivalent word for androgynous men?

Date: 2005-09-02 12:45 am (UTC)Step One: Logic. (Well, at least it's that which we have in common, heh.)
Step Two: I don't know you well enough but I am wondering who jhonen vasquez is.
Step Three: Multiple Personality Disorder, demonology and astrology.
Step Four: You've already mentioned the ones you found interesting before and questioned me on them. I didn't give you an answer because I suck ;)
