Oh, so get this: I go in to work this morning, and I'm filling out my timesheet, and as ever Billy comes over and asks if I've been filling it in every day. Which I have, because he asks me every day if I've logged my hours, and because it's the simplest way to keep track of my time. That's what the sheet's there for, after all. And he tells me once again that he doesn't really care, it's just that Bonnie gets on his case about it if he doesn't ask, and this I can understand.

But today he went further, and said that Bonnie thinks I just fill it all in at one time because it's written with the same pen! This causes all new levels of rage toward that woman! Not only is she self-righteously arrogant, but now it seems she's at best paranoid and at worst an idiot! Of course it's written with the same pen! It's written with my pen, which I carry on my at all times in case, you know, I have to write something!

What gets to me the most though isn't that she doesn't trust me on my hours -- that I could deal with. No, what bothers me is that she won't confront me. She'll sit and stew and make accusations, sure, but not to my face. If you're going to have an attitude like that about someone, at the very least be upfront about it. She's false, and that's what really gets under my skin.

Funny how things revisit in one's life time. Years and years ago I had a friend who had a job that required a daily report. Folks were supposed to write it everyday, even though it was only collected once a month. So, lots of folks just waited and filled it in the day before it was due, which seems to be human nature.

However, this friend of mine was overly compulsive. Her house was spotless 24/7. Her clothes always looked brand new, even though I knew they were not. Her car never had dust or mud on it, and looked like no human had ever entered it. She could not stand to have nothing to do, and feeling behind (which to her meant she was not WAY ahead) stressed her no end, so she simply avoided being 'behind.'

Like you, she had a pen that she carried always. It was refillable. She carried other pens to loan out when needed, her pen was never off her person.

She ended up getting in trouble over her daily reports. Her boss said that obviously she did them all the day before, as they were all obviously done with the same pen! There was only a couple of folks who actually did them everyday, and she was one of them!

So, she started taking the time to show her boss her completed report every day. In the end, she quit that job and went to work elsewhere. By that time, they were offering her more money, better bene's, etc to stay, but she just said "No way. I'm not trusted here even though I've earned it," and *poof* she was gone!

All this over a pen, and a suspicious boss!

Carry Two pens, and use the second one every other time.

Hmm... that doesn't seem right to me. Why should Andrew have to change his daily routine because of the trust problem his boss has? I would suggest talking to her directly, but I've never been in a situation like that, so I wouldn't know.

See, the really stupid thing is, if I wanted to, I could write it all out in one day with three different pens, and she probably wouldn't say a thing.
