This is actually something that my Brothers and I did a lot in middleschool and highschool...
The basic idea is to make me, Andrew, a character for some game. Give me stats, abilities, alignment, special powers, the works. Then, take this, and post it on your journal -- it's a Meme, after all.
Use whatever game system you like (DnD, WoD, Morrowind, AniMayhem, Unsung, M:tG, City of Heros, GURPS, etc); I know bunches of them, and those I don't I'd be willing to learn.

Notes:
1 I wavered between LG and CG. I usually consider libertarian leanings CG (every person for herself!)... but I get the sense that you'd follow church doctrine over your political views if push came to shove.
2 Hey - you're just finishing up geek/wizard school! :)
3 I've actually never seen how coordinated you are. But gamers with high DEX are rare. Ditto for techies with high CON...
4 You can make custom boxes, right?
5 You seem to lavish a significant amount of attention on the car... which of course, a D&D char wouldn't have. But I figure you'd be good with mounts instead.
6 "What the hell is this? FORTRAN?"
7 FORMAT C:\
8 Not that this really mimics anything about you, but *all* wizards take Magic Missile.
9 Though for some reason, you insist on calling it "Touch of the User"

Date: 2004-08-25 02:59 pm (UTC)I was wondering what godlike feat I'd performed in your present to earn a DEX of 83...
-laughs for days and days-
Date: 2004-08-25 02:58 pm (UTC)I also think I have a reasonable amount of coordination and grace (I played Soccer for years, ran cross-country, and currently take ballroom lessons), though I think you've got me with CON.
I think you covered all the key points, though. "Touch of the User" and "Hideous Laughter"! Ha! And points for Margaret. ^__^

Date: 2004-08-25 05:30 pm (UTC)At the same time, I see no trouble with the argument between the Ranger and the Paladin -- I'm against the idea that LG means "Boy-Scout Straight-laces", and think that LGs can have any and all human traits from sloth to wrath to petty prejudices against Druish girls. You both agree that the orcs need be stopped, but disagree on when 'stopped' is -- death or disablement.
Now I feel *really* geeky for debating the ethics of DnD's alignment system.
:p
Re: -laughs for days and days-
Date: 2004-08-25 06:13 pm (UTC)I disagree that LG chars need always play by all the rules (or whatever rules they are given, presumably by the government, etc.). I could perfectly well accept a character who is, say, LG but accepts some version of natural law theory (think Aquinas), who considered any positive law that violated the natural law invalid (as, e.g., slavery plausibly would). I think what would make the cut between someone like that who was LG and one who was NG/CG would be whether or not their idea of the natural law was societal or otherwise institutionalized. The Aquinian, who took church doctrine to be more or less identical with natural law would be LG, while a Thoreau type who believed natural law could be found by introspection and reflection would more plausibly be counted as NG or CG.

Date: 2004-08-25 05:10 pm (UTC)Meh, I think my interest in actually Role-Playing in these games is waning, in great part to the fact that I've yet to have a really good experience with any of it. Kirt, my current DM, is a great guy, but... Well, the Changeling group we had was a great group of people, but the game fell more-or-less to infighting, inability to see eye-to-eye, and differing play styles. The Werewolf game was more Traditional, but schedules conspired to kill that one. Unsung is going well enough, but there's only a couple of us. I'm thinking I may just relegate Role-Playing to source material for my other pursuits, namely writing.
Though... I keep meaning to post about it, but I got my new World of Darkness and Vampire: The Requiem books in. I'm reading Wod, and I love it! In fact, I love it so much that I'm seriously considering running a game at CUA if I can get The Guys interested -- it would mean a pretty consistent group of players, and maybe give me the chance of having a good game... But we'll see. That's just a long, long way of saying: Yeah, we should see about getting a group together sometime or something. I think it'd be fun to RP with you sometime. Know any other Players?
