jackofallgeeksLet's see - I was woken by John doing SOMETHING to his alarm clock. Flipping all the switches or something, he was trying to turn it off, I think, and doing a rather poor job of it. On the plus side, it alerted me to the fact that a power outage had messed up my own alarm. So, I got up today at (drum roll please!) 8:30(ish). I had a 9am Physics test, which is the only reason that I was up at that ungodly hour. I had intended to get back to bed after that, but we all know that didn't happen - I played StarCraft instead. I had just about captured Mengsk (the bastard) when, of all people -- !?
I'm not sure if I completed a full thought there. I had to run out for class. let's see what else happened today...I went to lunch. Skipped Calculus. Went to CompSci, finished up my lab project. When I got out of work to go to work, the bushes on the corner were in flames - I mean really burning. It was a bit interesting, until the ash started blowing around. That wasn't cool.
Went to work. Didn't do much of anything there, cept take a few notes for my English paper, but something noteable did happen. I got annoyed. Pretty badly, too.
You see, I work at the Office Of Disability Support Services on campus, and generally i'm supposed to be the technician for all our disability-accessible technology, mostly for helping blind and learning disabled use the computers for their studies. It's really neat stuff, seeing how a blind guy can use a computer (I envy his skill on the kybard) so don't think that I have anything against them.
But...
This lady came in today, and I would say her only disability was stupidity. That sounds mean, but the lady really bothered me. It'll sound worse when I get to why. You see, she came in to demo some of our screen reading software. Why? Not that she was blind, Not cause she had trouble reading, not even because she had bad eyesight. Because the internet just "had too much information." She said she couldn't process it all. ><* I admit, I'm a bit skilled with the computer. I don't expect EVERYONE to know how to do what is almost mundane for me. But the lady, for all I could tell, was fine I want to say she was just lazy, cause that's how it came off to me (well, it came off as 'Lazy B*tch, but I think I was upset, I think). I just don't understand the computer-illiterate. ::Shrugs:: This is really judgemental of me, I know. i have to work on that. I guess maybe I'm a bit over-protective of my precious machines.
After that I went and typed up as good a rough draft of my paper as I cared to do and wrote my Lab Report for CompSci, but then couldn't e-mail it, it was too big. Grabbed a bite at South, came home, and I think I'll futz around here for a while before playing a bit of StarCraft and sleeping. Spring Break is as good as here - after tomarrow morning, I have sheit to do.
