I've been places I wish I hadn't, I've done things I'd rather not admit to, I know things I'd just as soon forget. A friend of mine got me to thinking just now about people we know, and how much we don't know about them. And it occurred to me that we really fill in a lot of blanks with what we expect to find. Or maybe what we want to find, I think that fits better. And it isn't just with people we sort of know, but with dear friends and close relatives, and even ourselves. We all lie to ourselves, all the time, about things we take for granted. I think it's a curious thing.

-laughs- I speak, as always, in generalities, but it occurs to me that another common quirk to people is that they assume other people function the way they do. Maybe I'm the only one who, upon inspection, finds he lies quite a bit to himself. But generalities have proved true before...

Yeah, I'm really out of practice with Philosophizing. Ha.

I got my car back today, or rather last night. Dad needed it while his car was in the shop for minor repairs, which meant a day taking the metro. I'm actually beginning to like the metro -- if it wasn't more expensive than driving my car, I'd probably do it more often. It's definitely less stressful than Rush Hour Traffic. I'd need more CDs, though. I have several dozen old mixes, but the discs have been abused pretty badly in their short time. I have four or five new CDs, "Techno Goth" and "Reprieve" and "Jar of Happy" -- that last was difficult to construct, as I don't have many songs that really fit under that 'happy' category, and at least a number of those that I do are subtly dark. "Reprieve," which I mentioned yesterday as 'soothing music' has a decidedly dark turn to it.

I had a sudden craving just now for this soup my mom and grandma make on occasion, most usually at Thanksgiving. It's an italian soup with a thin-ish broth, spinach, and mini-meatballs, called 'Wedding Soup.' This makes me smile a bit. And it makes my stomach grumble.

I'm now really tired, and a bit lonely. I was going to call Suzannah up at lunchtime and, if she were up, chatting for a bit and maybe seeing if I could visit again sometime. I'll probably just end up talking with Maizie again.

*sigh* Five hours to go.

I hate cars. I've decided that we need a good cheap public transportation system like Europe. particularly Germany.

but then there wouldn't be a need for fuzzy dice, and fuzzy dice always makes the world go round.

I generally disagree. Or, I kinda disagree. Cheap public transportation would be good, but mostly because I think the standards and requirements for driving should need to be increased -- they'll give anybody a liscence, these days.

I do like my car, though, and I do like driving.

That is my second favorite soup of all time. My first would have to be french oninon. In fact I just had a bowl. It was yummy ^_~

I agree -- Italian Wedding, French Onion, and Clam Chowder are my three favorite soups, though I'm not sure of the order... I routinely get French Onion soup almost every time I go out to a restaurant for dinner.

See, it's not the lying to yourself thats the fun part, it's doing it well enough to believe those lies. The only problem is you need to have those mad skills so that nothing conflicts with the reality of it. Practice makes perfect my friend!
