I hate smoke alarms.
I know I need to work on my cooking.
You don't have to remind me with an ear-splitting buzzer for half an hour straight.

sweetie, why didn't you take the battery out? i mean, if your cooking is causing the smoke, take the battery out while you're working (because *everyone*, while cooking during their lives, ends up setting that thing off a couple times) ... then put it back in after you're done. it helps to have someone fan the smoke alarm, too. a clip on fan might help there. then again, some are just really touchy. :p

hehehehe. andrew cute moment of today.

There's a very simple explaination -- I live in a dorm, they don't allow that. Ie, there's no way for me to get at the batteries.

And it's not that I have a tendancy to burn things, just forget them -- that is, I forgot to turn the fan on over the oven, so when I went to cook the beef, the smoke from cooking meat set it off.

you know, after i'd posted the comment, i figured that there was probably no logical way for you to take the battery out. which reminded me that the next time i'm out shopping, the battery from mine needs replaced. about a week ago it started beeping every few minutes ... i guess some wacky warning that the battery was getting too low. so... yeah.

::giggle:: i didn't figure you'd burned anything, really. just wanted to tease. ^__~ you did leave the teasing card open for play, afterall.

mmmmm, cheesesteaks. but dude, no cheese. the heck? why on earth NOT? you MUST have cheese! ::ahem:: it is goooooooood. :)

Ha, no, I was cooking cheese-steaks, minus the cheese. I just forgot to turn the fan over the oven on, and so what little smoke beef puts off when it cooks set the thing off.

I haven't seen you around for a while, how've you been?

I don't think I've ever tried cheese steaks...

I've been so-so... Recovering from post-partum-european depression... Keeping myself busy seems to be the best solution... as a result, in the last week or so, I've written a 13 page paper on Huckleberry Finn after spending over 20 hours on it... and I'm planning to start making AMVs (or trying to) because I want to enter AMV contests. :)

I'm happy when I'm busy... it means I'm being productive!

You should, they're really good -- my dad has a technique of cooking them so you get the cheese melted between the slices of meat, but I haven't tried it -- no cheese here.

Yeah, how was Europe? London, right? Why was it that you were over there, anyways? I went to Europe for about a month a couple years back -- mostly just in Italy, but we got around some.

AMVs rock. I just got back from Katsucon, but I missed the AMVs! -wince- S'the one thing I wanted to do that I didn't. What do you think you want to make?

I've been busy myself, though it's not entirely self-imposed -- most of it's school-type stuff. I have a Creative Writing course, though, and I'm loving that. If you Go Back (http://www.livejournal.com/users/roliasnoom/309112.html) a few posts, you can see what I have started (locked due to piracy-paranoia). It should be fun.

Get the cheese melted between the meat? Hmmm... I don't even know if I could get it right on top!

I went to London for a semester abroad.. with some friends during the semester I went to Paris and to Venice. After the semester, I spent a month with Guy who lives in Belgium, and for a week we toured Germany, Austria, France, and The Netherlands. :) It was really pretty, and the month with him was the best part of being abroad... His mom cooked us lunch some times and the food was just amazing.. I even ate cow tongue - and it was so good I had several helpings!

I'm still plotting out ideas... or rather, letting them bubble in my head. It's the same thing I do with papers I write for English. :) I'm limited on my resources for anime since I'm the only person with anime DVDs here at home (no friends close by), but I'm thinking something with Utena, Sailor Moon, or anything Miyazaki. :) I could try something with KareKano since I have almost all of it... but I haven't watched most of it... ^_^;;

And ooh, creative writing.. I will go back and see what you've done... and I'll try to give you feedback, too... Good feedback is always helpful in creative writing classes!

Yeah, there's a lot of flipping and switching involved, but it's really good stuff, lemme tell you. You might not think the position of the cheese makes a difference, but it so does.

Wow, cow tongue? Really? What did it taste like? And you aren't allowed to say 'chicken.'

One friend of mine wanted to do an Utena video once, but I can't remember which song she was gonna use... Maybe something by the Goo Goo Dolls, or Natalie Imbruglia...? Another buddy did (I think) a great one of KareKano to some Guster song... It was magnificent.

Yeah, that link there is my greatest endeavor to date -- if you go check out my Anthologies (http://www.livejournal.com/users/roliasnoom/148860.html) page, you can find all the little Snippets I've posted up. I really like hearing feedback (my friends mean well, but with only a few exceptions do they ever give me any),' but I'm very bad at acting on it -- I tend to take the stance of "they just don't understand." Not to discourage you, of course, just giving you fair warning!
