jackofallgeeksOh, right -- On Saturday, I got an email from Miss Suzannah, though I didn't get around to reading it until Sunday evening. Anyways, it was nice -- we were discussing, for some reason, Dido's "White Flag" (she brought it up), and that's now turned to what it means for something to be 'Tragic.' I can't easily articulate what it means for me (which is why I use the term 'tragic,' to express a concept not easily expressed otherwise), but it seems to be something more than her classical-greek definition of "a character of near-superhuman virtue suffering because of some fatal flaw." Or something.
But that's not really the point. She's been systematically responding to my inquires from a few letters ago, and stopped this one just short of explaining what Courting was (to her) and what rules and protocols it dictates. Necessarily, I'm very intimidated by Courting, as my only other experience was with the Ladies Croft, and that panned out less-than-splendidly.
But that's still not quite the point, so I'll go ahead and just get to it -- The School is having an Engineer's Ball on the evening of the 20th and, with as much tact as I could manage, I asked is Suzannah might come with me. So there it is, the ball's in her court, and we'll see where it goes. I rather fear she won't make it, for any number of reasons -- school-type commitments, scheduling problems, the dictates of Courtship, whatever. But, I asked, so... Whee.

The whole way writing this, I've been going back and forth over whether I should leave it open for Anastasiya to read... -shrugs- It's a really odd situation, I guess. I don't know. I told Anastasiya there was 'another girl' who I was interested in. I'd be lying if I said that there weren't still feelings between me and Anastasiya, though, and I don't want to just slap her in the face with it. -shrugs- I have definite plans to unlock these posts to her at some point, but I think they'd just cause more harm than good, at the moment.
