Control Yourself, Man!

I think I've decided on a pet peeve of mine - people without restraint. A cross the board - sexual restaint, emotional restraint, physical restraint (like eating food and drinking alcohol, not straight jackets) - people who can't control themselves simply bug me. Now then, I like to consider myself at least moderately restrained - if i'm with my friends and having a good time, we all know I can get a little giggly, and I'm always rather goofy, but that's different. Even when I'm like that, I can control myself (barring provocation). What bugs me is people who simply don't know when enough is enough, or worse still, know and don't care. I don't know how many people actually fit in this category, but it's due to recent stories I'vew been told that I came to this descision.
And along those lines, I think 'American Society' embodies this concept of unrestrained passions. I don't know how much real society emulates this, but American Society as presented to us through the media, and just generally, fits this description. Skrew anything that moves. Violence is cool. Get drunk because you can. Buy, buy, buy. I mean, just look at some of the movie's that have come out - American Pie 1&2, Scary Movie 1+2, Not Another Teen Movie. And I think the worst is yet to come - 40 Days and 40 Nights, I believe it's called, runs solely on one assumption - a kid who's BEEN having sex *gasp* feels bad about it and for pennance (yes, this weirdo's religious, so he confesses it) he can't have sex for so many odd days. Either that, or it's just a dumb bet, which would make the story line even worse. In anycase, the bets come - most people don't think he can go a month without skrewing something. And to make the whole thing worse, EVERYONE is out to get him. The girls are all over him, he's generally ostracized by his friends - his girlfriend says how they only ever used to have sex, but now he talks to her, and listens, and she hates it!? What the hell kinda message are they trying to send to us?
OK, I'm sorry, I went off on a rant. But I think I've found a pet peeve. Yeeeees, all night long.
