Right. I'm a little late for this, but I figured, it being the New Year ad all, I should do as they do and review the last year. Cause, y'know, that's what they do. And stuff.
Has anyone else noticed that, at least while in school, it's difficult to segment things into one year or another? I mean, yeah, you expect a little over-flow at the edges, but the School Year is very neatly broken right in half over the New Year... Anyways, this year put in it's chips, played a few hands and, more or less, came up even. As it's my wont to do, I'll try to be candid.
The year is split more or less into three pieces -- 'Last Year,' consisting of the Spring '03 Semester; 'The Summer,' consisting of, well, the Summer; and 'This Year,' being the Fall '03 Semester. Of course, being me, I can't but barely remember anything that isn't now. I can't remember, very well at least, not knowing who I know or being where I am.
Last Year was the closing of a pretty sucky 'year' all around. I was dealing with heartache (as quite a few of you know all too well) and a Dorm situation that was less than optimal... I think it was just this last February that I went to Katsucon 9 -- the Con That Would Not Die. That, if nothing else, seems so long ago and yet as though it were just yesterday. That was good times, and in conjunction with that, I think this is when Alyce and I... Shirley that's not when we Met, was it? Ha, perhapse it was! Regardless, s'where my friendship with Alyce (and the rest of the group) really began (I think), and knowing her is definitely a good thing to come out of it. I also got to meet Joe, Becky, and Jaime (if, infact, K9 is when we first truly met -- AnimeUSA notwithstanding) in slightly decreasing levels of ... 'closeness' isn't the word, but I feel I know them less (and they know me less) than some. Or something.
I also met my friend Amber (Tink!) for Prom or something... Was it during Becky A's make-over thing that we met? I think maybe it was, after she ditched me for that gay guy! -laughs- (Don't read me wrong, Tink, I think both Becky and John are great). She's cool and such and stuff.
And unless I'm mistaken, it was also Last Year that I sponsored my lovely little cousin, Meredith, in Confirmation. -smiles- Though she's quite absent in the Digital world... She has no idea how much I love her, or how proud I am to know her, or happy that she is who she is, and other sappy stuff like that. But it's true. (Oh, and Rachel and Kate are cool, too).
The Summer was pretty good, all things considered. In May, my family moved back here to the East Coast. I also started work at NRL and met Dustin, a really cool guy in general. Also a rather intelligent guy -- I like people who are overtly intelligent, thought I fear I come off as a bit of a plebeian around their type...
That was more or less my whole summer, really. I didn't do too much else beside get up, go to work, go home, rinse, repeat. I think I visited The Ladies Mock near the end. But it wasn't bad, all considered. I was pretty much ready to go to school again when the time came.
This Year was good pretty much all-around. Got in better touch with Alyce and such, which is cool. Got into a Room where, generally, I get along well with all my roomies -- even the one who bugs the hell out of me has moments where he's a decent human being, and we can connect on a number of things.
I had some issues with school, based socially, religiously, and academically. I considered transferring out to another school, but decided to stay in the end. Had some contact with Claire in the beginning, though that waned as school started to swing... Louis introduced me to Anastasiya, which also means I had more contact with Louis This Year as opposed to Last Year. I had more contact with my friends all around. Got back into contact with Beth H after she found Leslie on LJ... Met Suzannah at Gene's school, and Carly at my own... Got a few people onto LJ and got more than that into MtG... Decided a few things about myself, but for the most part, I am as I have ever been, I think.
And such and stuff. That's a quick run-down, off the top of my head, of the last 'year.' And now, three days into it, we'll see what 2004 has to offer... Aside from a $50 raise in my Car Insurance! *wince*

s nothing you 'should know.' Carly is a friend of my Roomie Zack who's come to our room and I've gotten into both Magic and LJ (Though she only has one deck and she's never updated). She's just a friend I met This Year, and I thought it'd be of note mentioning the fact.

Date: 2004-01-03 08:27 pm (UTC)I'm glad to have pleased you.
I'm glad we met, too -- K9 was great, especially with the snow, I'd say, cause we got to spend more time together (better for some than others, maybe...) I still remember having that good-type chat with you while the whole rest of the world was sleeping... I don't remember what we talked about, but I DO remember that we talked! -laughs-
Yeah, I consider you to be one of me dearest friends, and stuff and such. ^_^;;
