Josh: network update
Andrew: Hmm?
Josh: 1: the wireless card appears to work
Josh: there may still be some kinks with the network, but that's secondary right now
Josh: the router's recieving a signal
Josh: we haven't tried anythign liek a fle transfer
Andrew: -nods-
Josh: yeah
Andrew: w00+
Josh: that brings us to 2
Andrew: You install the one in the kitchen yet?
Josh: we have a connection to verizon set up on unitzero
Josh: but there'as a problem
Andrew: Which is?
Josh: apparently, unitzero has no local area conenction
Andrew: How do you mean?
Josh: the network card's working, but there's soemthign wrong with the drivers
Andrew: Damnable.
Josh: verizon dsl needs a local area connection
Andrew: I tell you, that box will be the death of me.
Josh: lol
Josh: well, it will give you experience for your next box ;p
Andrew: If it's not whining about DirectX, it's coughing up stuff about Drivers...
Josh: lol
Josh: I think we've got some corrupted directx drivers somewhere or somehting
Andrew: Are you connected to the internet on UnitZero, or is it a full NoShow?
Josh: the sounds doesn't work on army men 2 or world war
Josh: cant connect on zero
Josh: this is back on teh 1337ness ;p
Josh: the movies on army men 1 don't work
Andrew: I figured.
Josh: and the scenarios on toys in space don't work
Josh: Warcraft 3 finds directx until it tries to use it
Andrew: What if we set 1337ness up as the Gateway...? Or do you figure she moves too slow?
Josh: civ 3 loads, then desktop crashes
Andrew: Yeah, sounds like bad Drivers...
Josh: she's getting pretty old
Andrew: Or something. That box has subscriptions, dude.
Josh: generally has to eb dedicated to net or game . . . .
Andrew: Yeah.
Andrew: Hmmm.
Andrew: Well damn.
Andrew: I'd suggest making Unicron the Gateway, but she'll be gone in a few weeks...
Josh: yeah
Josh: mebbe make unicron the gateway
Josh: and try to fix unitzero's drivers?
Andrew: I'm not sure what I can do for UnitZero right now, it'll take some searching to see what the trouble is and how to fix it, I fear...
Josh: yeah
Andrew: I can try. -nods-
Andrew: Then at least Zero'd have a new card and Drivers, a la Wireless.
Andrew: And we could search for things to fix her groundline like that.
Josh: I think teh 1337ness was getting the other card . . . .
Josh: zero's having enough trouble without opening her to 'net ravages ;p
Andrew: See if you can set Unicron up as the Gateway...
I know, but if Unicron's theGateway, she doesn't NEED her card.
Andrew: If Zero were the gateway, she'd still be open. :-p
Josh: but the card's worthless with a local area connection
Andrew: Say what?
Josh: without*
Andrew: Look, the Wireless COMES with new drivers.
Josh: maybe that could work, then . . .
Josh: unicron also sounds like the most fit out of the 3 computers
Andrew: Load those onto Zero, I'll fit her with the card, and then we can use the Wireless to fix the Groundline so that when Uni leaves, Zero's cool with it.
Andrew: -smiles- My lil'Uni's a gem. *nods*
Josh: then, with luck, zero will be able to handle the 'net when uni's gone
Josh: lol
Andrew: Never a problem with her -- well, once we got ride of that bad board and reversed her floppy cable...
Josh: lol
Andrew: *dances* I love GeekTalk.
Josh: ;p
Andrew: OK, try that -- if you can't hook Uni up as the Gateway without me, uhm, wait. Otherwise, see if you can get that all set up.
Josh: som install the wireless card stuffs?
Andrew: Don't open any of the boxes -- I'll switch cards when I get back.
Josh: yeah
Andrew: Yeah, and try hooking Uni to the groundline Verizon.
Josh: okies
Andrew: I have a Shortcut to the verizon login inside My Documents.
Andrew: I couldn't install the Real Thing, so I cheated.
Josh: lol
Josh: apparently, xp can set it up without the cd
Andrew: Set what up?
Josh: I know from experience ;p
Josh: the dsl connexion thingu
Andrew: Oh yeah? w00+
Josh: well, I guess I needa get off to gateway-ify Unicron . . .
Andrew: Oh, and remind me when I get home to update 1337ness to XP, yes.
Josh: will that be a good idea?
Josh: prolly
Josh: worth trying out . . ..
Andrew: XP as opposed to ME?
Josh: troo
Andrew: Hells yes.
Andrew: :-p
Josh: I hear ME's the bottom of the barrel . . .
Andrew: Ditto.
Andrew: S'why I wanna fix 1337ness
Josh: ;p
Josh: okies
Andrew: Cool.
Josh: movine the dsl . . .
Andrew: See ya.

Date: 2003-12-23 09:18 pm (UTC)The computers we have at home are The Gateway, The Compaq, The 1337ness ('Leet-ness) and UnitZero. My brother Gene's computer is The Husk. My computer is Unicron. We're trying to network them, and this is a dialogue between my brother Josh and myself about our progress.
