Really. No, really.

I'm happy.
I'm afraid that doesn't come through enough. I always have something to complain about. School's a pain, the world is cold, and I'm alone. I reiterate what I've said a hundred times, things are never as bad as I make them out to be, and I'm never as down as I seem.
I'm happy.
I went to Amazon.com today, but this time I got honest, actual books! "Cryptonomicon," "Snow Crash," "Fight Club," and "Neuromancer." My roomie told me he'd let me borrow his copy of "Ender's Game." I'm thinking I'm going to enjoy these books, and if that's the case, I'm going to look for more of them. And suggestions on good literature are welcome.
I want to write.
Talked with The Ladies Croft again. It's different, now that they're apart. Or maybe not. I don't know; I can't remember. It's a blessing and a curse... But regardless, I actually had a half-decent conversasion with Emily today... Also talked with Amber for the first time in forever... I still have a number of issues with how she's choosing to liver her life, and i'm very afraid she's going to hurt herself in the end...
I've got work in the morning. A part of me wants to sit here and talk to myself a bit longer, but I can't think of anything else interesting to say, so...
As they say elsewhere, "Good Night."

Date: 2003-09-10 09:22 pm (UTC)Ender's Game, as well as the rest of the series, is lovely. My favourites are the first and second book (which is called "The Speaker for The Dead") ... :) Although mostly isn't because I'm madly in love with Ender. And with Jane, later on in the series.
My first boyfriend, Sean, gave me Ender's Game as a gift when he came to visit me. It was his favourite book ever. I will say until the day I die that if all I ever got from any of my relationships was a copy of that book.... it has ALL been worth it. That's how much that series means to me.
When you're done reading it, do tell me what you thought of it. I'm quite sure you'll love it... because as I think of it, Ender kinda reminds me of you in some ways. ::laugh:: ANYway. Going to stop being a fangirl.
I'm happy to see you happy, as always. xo.

Date: 2003-09-10 09:40 pm (UTC)If it is the same "Fight Club" as the movie, no way I'm gonna read that, hated that movie.
Ender's Game ... I'm pretty sure I read one from that series years ago, and always wanted to read the rest. But, it slipped from my mind (there is no traction in there, things slip often) but now you and your previous poster who shares a nickname with my youngest daughter, are making me want to read it again. But, not until I read this CSS tomb that came in the mail yesterday.
Good to see you happy, I am busy, not posting much, things will calm down soon. Everything in cycles, it seems......

Date: 2003-09-11 10:03 am (UTC)I would ask what it was about "Fight Club" that you didn't like. Because, it occurs to me, this is a case of movie-based-on-book, not book-based-on-movie, and those tend to be better in book-form than movie-form. I really enjoyed the concepts and abstractions that Fight Club brought up, so I'm really interested to see how the book (and infinitely greater medium of thought in certain contexts) deals it out.
-laughs- Yeah, my Mel suggested Ender's Game to me a long while ago, and I was supposed t'read it for class, but then they changed the book list on me. >_<* Now I just have to wait until after Thanksgiving, when my roomie brings up his copy... I should have just added it to my order last night...
And yes, everything in cycles. Everything in cycles.
