So, right... Apparently, my password for my email account just expired. This would only be a minor annoyance, except that the page where we go to change our password is currently down. The bastards. It'd be nice if they'd let us know, somehow, a few days or so in advance, that our password's about to expire. The bastards. They'd better get it up soon, or I'm going to be angry.

I got a new project yesterday, writing up code of a Java-based corkboard, where we can stick notes and the like. Unfortunately, it's a very GUI project, and I've never really done alot with graphics. I should get working on that...

Cousin gets married tomorrow. I visit Ohio in a week and a half. School starts again on the 25th.
I had more to say, but I've since forgotten.

Ah, I see. Yeah, this past semester at school I found myself JCreator, and that's what I'm using now. Before that, I just wrote everything in Notepad. I'm a big fan of Notepad. But it's a lot easier to compile with JCreator, and there are fewer windows to mess with, in the end. I think I saw JBuilder, once, but I don't remember.

It has to be Java in most part because my code is, in the end, going to be plugged into a cross-platform, net-meeting sort of application. So, yeah, that's all written in Java, necessarily, and so much my code.

Not that I really -know- any other language, per se, but that's another topic.

As it is, I think I probably am going to have to use graphics calls, and depending that might not be so difficult... I think we're going to be hooking this into a Database (and I love me some good DB action, y'know?), and so all I'd need to do is cycle through a result set and draw out the Stickys that way... The biggest trouble is, I think, going to be moving them around.... Hmmm....

Front-end is totally my thing so if you need some tips gimme a shout. As I mentioned you might find it easiest to do actual bitmap drawing straight onto a canvas(a bit of rectangle and text rendering is all you need no?) and if you do this cleverly you can make things able to drag around and such by responding to mouse events.

I'd be more specific but I don't want to bore you and my java is sketchy at the moment... haven't used it in a year or two. ^^;;

-laughs- I think I'm much more a back-end kinda guy right now, but I may be moving my way around. Half-way through my Bachelor's, I'm sure I've got time to decide what I like. I'm currently looking at tutorials and Documentation, and I was just looking at MouseListener stuff (as that's the obvious route to go, anyhow).

And trust me, you could not bore me with CodeTalk. I eat that stuff up. I enjoy code to a level that's illegal in seven States! Besides the fact that i'm always willing and interested in learning new stuff, be it different applications of my usual languages, or a foray into the world of C++ or CGI. -laughs-
I lurve me some good CodeStuff, yes'm.
