Been doing alot of nothing at work today (my boss gets back t'morrow, methinks, and I expect to have things to do then), and I stumbled upon this Inkblot Test over on Dawn's Journal. And, well, you know me and tests...

Andrew, your unconscious mind is driven most by Love.

Everyone has a desire to love. But your desire is rooted very deeply in your unconscious and affects many of the decisions you make in life — whether you are aware of it or not.

You have an energy about you that inspires people to experience their true feelings of love and act kindly towards others. In this way, you and your drive for loving relationships start a chain reaction of positive experiences.

The reason you are driven by love, may be because your unconscious is trying to avoid the opposite of love — hate. You, more than others, may be afraid of experiencing severe discord with others. That may, in turn, heavily influence your choices about relationships and the way you communicate your ideas, wants, and desires to others.

With such a strong orientation towards loving others, your relationships hold a very special place in your life. Your capacity to love may be greater than those around you, and therefore you may have more to give in relationships than your romantic partner does. Remember that this is a gift you have and one most others don't possess.

I broke down like a shmuck and shelled out the $10 for the 25-page report (I wanted to do more reading anyways), which is supposed t'have more t'say on the subject. We'll see how it does. I really have t'stop spending these little deposits like that; I need to have some $4k to pay for this next semester, and then another $4k for the Spring...

<geek>Hey, they run the thing with jsp's...</geek>

And for those of you still waiting on a real post from me, I'll get to it, I promise.

You paid?

My six year old can't say the muahhahahahahahaha thing, try as she might. She's a little Texan too, so she says:

Moo ha ha. (stresses on the Moo!)

By all means, please, rub in it.  ^_^;;
No, seriously though... I thought, $10, why not? I need something t'read before Dustin (my coworker-buddy here) gets in anyways.

And am I to understand that both you and your daughter are laughinbg at me?  O.o

No, no, no. Not laughing at you. In fact, my daughter is still asleep, and knows nothing of the issue. I am laughing with you, is all. Aren't you laughing?

It's 10:00 and your 6-year old is still asleep? I'm amazed, I truly am. I suppose my lil sister (who I guess is about 8 now, but that's not the point) sleeps in well enough when she can, but the 10-yr old and 5-yr old siblings are constantly getting up before anyone ever should (though, I'm usually out of the house even before then... funny how that works...).

And yes, I suppose I am laughing. A little bit. S'hard t'catch a joke when you're on the end of it, ne?  ^_^;;

As for the, uhm, purchase, though, it's not quite what I think you think it is. They charge your card and allow you to look at another page (dynamically created based on your answers, I believe) which has a more extensive explanation of your test results, and goes into detail on each of the inkblots. It's actually pretty interesting (though I've only but skimmed it so far). Necessarily, it's not as 'precise' as a 'real' inkblot test, but then, I suppose one of those would cost more than $10.

Tangentially, my interest is peaked -- what sort of work is it that you do at home? I have suspicions it's computer-related (most jobs are now, after all). I'm just terminally curious, and I'm very much so interested in all things computer (s'why I'm in college, after all).

Well, aside from wife, mother, homeowner kind of work, I have 3 other 'jobs'. I build web pages, I take care of OPK's (other people's children), and I am a photographer. The web work and photography are both computer related, and my computer is in the great room, where the OPK's usually gather. So, I can hear email when it comes in, and it's easy to hit refresh when I go passed to see what's new on the page.

I wish I knew php and mysql, want to come teach me? I also wish I had flash, and a newer version of dreamweaver, but that is not in the cards at this time.

Yes, you are right, I thought it was saying it would snail-mail you a 25 page write up about your ink test.

-laughs- Yes, being a mother/wife/homeowner is a fulltime job, especially when you add kids in -- I've seen my mom working that for years. I figured you were a photographer -- what sorta stuff do you do? I don't really know much about pictures, myself, but I do know I'm a big fan of black-and-white photos. I had a friend who was into that, and her stuff always looked really cool.

How many and what ages of OPKs do you watch?

I'm actually half-interested in web design myself, though more on the underbelly of the code than, say, graphics and stuff. I've never really been a layout man or anything like that.

I actually do know mysql (to an extent, mostly from coding with ColdFusion) and I've been reading up on php and jsp (both very cool -- jsp's almost make me respect Java). I could send you links to a few tutorial pages on the subject if you'd like -- s'where I've learned most of what I know. Unfortunately, I don't have ready access to a server in order to test the neat little things that can be done... -wilts-

I haven't learned anything about Flash, though I hear it's pretty simple, and though I've seen Dreamweaver, I've never used it, and I'm not -really- sure of what it does. Generally, I like my code the way I like my fish -- Raw. (Unless it's salmon, wich is really good if you grill it with a little bit of lemon and garlic...)
And yeah, I expected they'd snail-mail something, too, but nopes. It's right here online. I would guess (like I said) that they just have a cache of 'official' diagnosis for each answer to each question or something, and then write the page dynamically when you answer. They are, after all, using jsp's.
