Well, let's see, today's been pretty basic. Spent most of the day studying XML. As far as I've discovered, it's a really good idea, but I can't find any applications for it. Obviously it's in use -- Trillian, as an example, uses XML files to store buddy lists locally. it's a really interesting thing, though, and I'm curious to visit the World Wide Web Consortium Page to see if I can learn more about it and other programming ditties.

Talked with Dustin t'day about Anime, Video Games, and Computers. Specifically, we talked about what I wanted in a system, and he estimated the parts would cost about $1300, which is probably about half what I would pay at BestBuy for a comparable system. Added bonus is that I don't have to put up with all the unnecessary software they'd put on. The downside (sorta) is that I'll need to build it myself. this is only a downside in that if I don't do it right, it could get messy. Louis, I may need your help on that, even if it's just getting instructions from you.  ^_^;;

Tangentially, Josh and Dustin have both informed me that I have to watch 'Equilibrium,''Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels,' and 'The Transporter.' Leslie -- the actor who played Turkish in 'Snatch' is, apparently, also in 'The Transporter.' Might be worth checking out. Luckily, I found a Blockbuster on the way home from work today, so I may well make weekend stops there to start watching all these movies I've never seen. Have to be careful, though -- I'm not made of money, and it'll be far too easy to get in trouble, what with already buying this computer... Did you know they almost have a THIRD expansion for Morrowind already?

It was a nice day out, too. Saw a couple of pretty girls exiting the cafeteria as we entered -- Dustin wants to find out where they work. -laughs- Also saw a pretty girl chewing her lip in the car behind me on the way home, but she was probably too young. They always are.

In addition to the Blockbuster I found off 301, I also found a Verizon store. unfortunately, while they didn't have a new battery I could get (they suggested I see if there's an online store I could order from) they did have a car-adapter, so at least I won't be up a creek when my phone dies, now.

It was really hot and sticky out when I got home, so I'm waiting for the sun to set before I go on my (projected) 2-mile run t'night. Also want t'try getting t'bed a bit earlier t'night. Stayed up longer than I'd planned talking with Emily last night...

As always, you know where to find me.

Update as I attempt to post this: I made it the full 2.1 miles, with a straight 1.5 miles running, a few hundred feet walking, then finished running. Tim came along with me and kept up really good. but then, at 14, I'd expect him to be in better shape. He's always been the Athletic one.

And we got in just in time for it to start pouring. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, as far as running. As far as posting this, though, it's a Thunderstorm, so the Parents are killing the Internet. This will probably be posted tomorrow morning.

Update as I actually post this: The storm last night was great! Class-A Thunderstorm, right over head! The rain was literally pouring down in sheets, and the lightning was practically in out backyard it was so close! The lil'girls got scared (though I think Emi was mostly scared because Beth and Becky were being scared) but I thought it was simply amazing. It was beautiful.

The Transporter!...

::laughs:: I believe I have mentioned in a very recent post that Jason Statham is in "The Transporter". So...this I already well know.

I love awesome thunderstorms. The only good thing about Iowa was the thunderstorms they'd have, in which the lightning was purple and constantly streaking across the clouds with multiple bolts and in multiple branching directions, and it just looked like the sky would never end...because that's how the sky is in Iowa.

-laughs-
It seems that you did. -laughs- I'm afraid I've been a rather poor reader as of late. It's difficult when the majority of one's time Online is at Work... I plan on seeing both The Transporter and Equilibrium this weekend. I found a blockbuster nearby, so rock.

And yeah, I have few things worth saying about The Great Plains aside from them having ROADS that never seem to end (O.o), but their Skies ARE amazing, and the stories I've heard of the amazing shows Storms put on out there... Seeing a Thunderstorm litterally comming miles away, and the light show that follows... It would almost make me want to live out there.
Almost.

That is cool...even though Blockbuster kinda sucks in the grand scheme of things, it still serves a purpose. I've been making use of it quite an embarassing bit lately, just 'cause I get bit with the "MUST SEE insert movie title here!!" bug after work, and the Naro isn't open at 11:00 at night, but Blockbuster is.

Sometimes I scare myself with thoughts of wanting to go back to Iowa, just to experience their thunderstorms again.
