-Deep Breath-
You ever have a week that felt like a month? I just finished on. Now that I have a bit of time, I think I'll do my best to update my Journal. Currently, I'm waiting for the Pizza to get here. Dad's out getting Sodas, the little one's are playing in the Basement, and The Boys are cleaning the kitchen. Mom's picking up Luke and Alex from Jenny's. They're going to spend the weekends up here durring the summer so that Jenny and Shawn can both work and not have to pay for Babysitting or Daycare.

Last weekend was Prom, and it was alright. I went down to go with a friend of mine, Liz. She's a nice enough girl, though about as religiously ambiguous as you can get; even she doesn't know what she is. I think she was born Eastern-rite Catholic, then she was a Mormon, and now she's one of those nen-denominational christians, but apparently she's still a Mormon. Or not. Or something. Apparently it's a hard faith to leave...? anyways, I went down there because earlier in the Semester she'd asked if I'd go with her, if she didn't have a date. Being the guy I am, I said sure, and being that she didn't get a date for the Prom, I ended up going. Dad doesn't believe that story, nor does it seem does Leslie -- to quote her, "Liz not get a date? Right." -shrugs- Well, that may all be well, but if she had any interest in me she did a masterful job at concealing it...

The dance itself was fun enough. We started by getting t'gether with some of her friends at Heather's house for dinner. Heather's alot prettier now than lat I remember her, I think. Another of her friends, Jeannie (appropriately enough) reminded me of a cross between Beth H and Jean K. The guys there were really cool, too -- I don't -typically- get along well with guys, generally, but I rather liked that group. Durring the dance, I got one slow-dance with Liz and one with... Can't recall her name. I think it was Christine...? The one time Christine got me out for a fast song I remembered why I never went for that -- it really is a wonder Leslie gets me to dance the way she does. Kudos to her. There was one girl who Liz's group wasn't pleased with, Sarah, who found me and wanted me to go fast-dance with her. I wasn't up for it (I'm too white) but I rather regret not getting her on the floor for a slow song. The way Liz didn't seem interested, for whatever reason, a little attention would have been nice. Sarah reminded me a bit of Nifer. By the end of the night, I remembered how removed from that whole situation I am.

After the dance, we were supposed t'go over to Leah's place and have pizza and watch movies and hang out all morning -- apparently The Group plays DnD, and that would have been nice. But Liz just wanted to get to bed, so we stayed long enough to see the first 10min of Ghost Ship and then head out.

Saturday we kinda hung around until the Pool Party -- which was a bit off, as it was 65 and rainy all day. The party was pretty cool, though -- good food including shrimp cocktail and Swedish Meatballs and stuff. It was cool. We all ended up going into the pool anyways, and I think I got a slight cold from it.  ^_^;;  It was cool, generally, though it reminded me for a moment of the way things used to be. We went back to her place at about Midnight, my mood having been supressed. It was a nice rainy evening, though.

The next morning I got up for 9am Mass at St. Matthews and saw the Geislemans, and they had me sit up with them, which was nice.  ^_^;;  It's always good to see friendly faces. I also saw Tom there, which caught me as Odd -- Tom was my Youth Leader at YOA, which was over at Ascention. Ascention is a more... 'charismatic' church, I suppose, and their 'unorthodoxy' has recently made me uncomfortable -- some things they do just seem a bit too irreverant for my tastes, I suppose. Tom was one of the coolest guys I've ever known; may he shares similar feelings. No one told me he got married though! Apparently he and his wife are expecting a child in December.  ^_^  I'm really happy for him. He's a great guy.

On a whim of sorts, I dropped by Leslie's place. Her mom was surprised to see me -- it kinda makes me feel good t'see people excited/happy t'see me. S'why I like popping around t'see people. But she went upstairs and got Leslie (who didn't seem to register that I was there, in the house). Mrs. Leslie's Mom was also kind enough to provide me with sustenance, which was most appreciated.  ^_^;;  I tend to feel a bit awkward in cases like that -- hospitality, I guess. I don't like t'think I'm imposing or anything.

But Leslie was supposed t'go to see The Matrix: Reloaded (again) with James. At Noon, though, James had still not called, so I suggested (since I wanted to see it as well) that we go t'gether. We took her Lil'Brother, too, and James actually did end up meeting us, at the end. We also spoke in passing with some guy at the concession Stand, which was cool. The movie was good, too, in my opinion. I think I liked the first one more (it was more cerebral, and Leslie tells me it's apparently got very religious undertones [duh, Andrew], so I'm more interested in watching it again) but it did bring up some interesting questions of the nature of Choice (three sepparate people make points on the issue) and I really sunk my teeth into that.

It was well into the afternoon when I dropped Leslie off. I was at Indian River, in the left lane, with my blinker on. All I needed to do was turn and get onto the Highway to be on my way home. I went straight, instead.
I ended up driving over to the Crofts. It's difficult to explain... Back in YOA and YMV and Highschool in general, I was good friends with the Twins, Becky and Emily. Marcus was a really cool guy, and after a bit I even got to know their parents passably well, and their little sister Jill. I'd be lying if I said this wasn't a little inpart due to my interest in Emily. When We moved out to Washington, I kept in touch with Emily through snail-mail; she and Oli helped keep me sane in The Frozen Waste. Soon after going to College, though, I sent her a letter pretty much telling her 'everything,' as though she didn't already 'know.' I never got an answer, and things kind of fell apart from there... I'm still pretty good friends with the Twins, but contact is little, and it's generally a bit awkward, at least on my part.

Anyways, now that I've said far too much, I went to their house, and there were alot of cars out front... I passed the house and parked a bit down the road, then walked back. I was almost at the door and heard the sounds of people -- a party or gathering of some sort... I went up and turned back three times before finally deciding that I should just leave... Just as I got in my car, though, Marcus came out to get in his and head off to YOA -- I decided to pull up and 'ask him for directions.' He was a bit surprised I was there, and said they were having a graduation/birthday party for the Twins, and that I shjould go in -- they'd be surprised. So, I did.

It was cool, and far less fearsome as I'd imagined. Becky was the first to greet me, and I went back and saw Emily, and spoke with Mr and Mrs Croft. I talked with Mike Becker for about 20min about the X-box and the failings of Nintendo... Becky's going to go to Culinary School, and Emily got into Virginia Tech for Architecture, which is great! It was nice seeing them. An hour later I got on the road headed home.

Wanted t'talk with Claire t'night and ended up rousing her from a wisdom-tooth-pain-induced slumber (of sorts). Meep!  ^_^;;  Hope you feel better, Claire. Now I'm afraid t'get mine removed.  O.o
