So I'll try and be brief (which I find is rather difficult for me).

I did in fact go to Contra last night. After work I went back to my uncle's and took a nap and had some water. I was feeling better and, weighing it all, I decided I'd just kick myself if I didn't go. So after dinner at 6:00 I headed out for the 2-hour drive. Aside from a few idiots (which Traffic usually generates in higher density) it was a good drive, and the setting sun was simply gorgeous.

When I got out there, there was a huge crowd, easily twice the size of anything we'd had last year -- seems they drew a healthy number of Freshmen. As per usual, the large crowd intimidated me, and it took a half-hour or so before I felt comfortable; but then everything was fine. I saw some old friends (Angela, whose name I always forget; Sylvia, whose name I never knew; Juliana; Nicole; Mary; and a few others) and got in a few dances. Even when I wasn't dancing (in that first half-hour) I was loving it; I really missed Contra. I also got to chat with Greg, Gene's old room-mate, which was really cool, though I didn't really like 'Ren, a casually-confessed stoner-girl from 'Jersey.

I felt a little bad as I didn't see much of Suzannah and, aside from a short bit in that first half-hour, we didn't get a chance to talk much; I was in the middle of a conversation with Greg and 'Ren when she left, so there wasn't even really a Goodbye. I would have gone over to her dorm to say hello and talk a bit, except that I needed to get home and grab some sleep before work this morning. I plan on being out there next week, and hopefully most other Thursday nights too (Friday classes don't start until Noon), so I'll get a chance to talk to her.

In eight hours (roughly 480 minutes) I'll be out of work here at Davis, and in about 26 hours (1,560 minutes) I hope to be moving into my Dorm Room. You can't see it, but I'm rather excited.

The IT guys took me out to Lunch at Fudruckers. Good stuff. I got a 2/3lb burger, and they were surprised when I ate the whole thing. I was surprised when it didn't quite fill me up. Still, I'm going to try working out more.

I started laughing at one point, I think because Roman was looking at me and, well, I just laugh sometimes. Then they all tried to figure out why I was laughing, and Roman decided it was because I was watching him, the Big Russian Guy, drinking a chocolate milkshake. It wasn't, as I recall, and I just started laughing more at their attempts to figure out why I was laughing. It's a viscous cycle -- it sticks to itself.

Jim had "one burning question" that he wanted to ask me: How did I lean to type so fast with just one finger? Most of you have probably never experienced my typing, but apparently it's the stuff of legends. I type, more or less with just my left index finger -- though, my right middle finger hits things like Shift, Enter, and Backspace. Once in a while, my right index will get a Period or Apostrophe, but that's about it. But even at this, I apparently type at some incredible speed that seems to impress everyone. Several times in this office people have commented on my speed, let alone my technique. I'm also loud. My roomies have all complained about the volume of my typing, my parents have commented on it, and just today Stephen said that all summer he's heard something down the hall like someone going through files or something, and just found today that it was me typing.

Did I mention I watch my keyboard, too? I'm a typist's worst nightmare.

Jim suggested that I design a keyboard specifically for my method, a series of concentric circles of keys, with more-oft-used keys in the middle and radiating out. He suggested "The Portner Keyboard," because Portner just sounds technological. Then Stephen said it should be the "Portner Advanced Input Device." And Jim said "Hey, 'PAID.' Why doesn't want to get PAID?" I think they may be on to something.

Stephen noted that I never laugh when I'm typing (which, if I think about it, actually is mostly true). Chris said "Well, sure, that takes complete concentration -- one false move and that finger goes straight through the desk!"

I'm gonna miss it here. Just a little bit. -grins-
Only 150 minutes left.

Well, my buddy Jenny called me on the fact that I promised a picture of Suzannah by tonight, so I've taken some time away from packing to crop this and get it up. I didn't expect anyone would want to see, but...

Anyways, here it is, cut because it's still about 100Kb -- I cropped it, but I didn't shrink it or anything. The blue and white is her sling, which she's out of now, but her arm is still injured.
