Bad Cop

This one article brings up a lot of questions, and not all of them are about the nation's police forces. Besides the questions of police loyalty, attitudes, and true motivations/incentives/goals (only give tickets that are gonna generate revenue? Odd, I thought they were there to protect us, not tax us), there's the illusion of privacy that we build for ourselves (I could pretty easily be connected with this journal, and almost all of my posts are open) and things like that.

Good Morning

Well, I'd had a lot to say, about life and love and family, but this morning I find myself achy and dis-coordinated. And the only 'soda' left in the lounge is 7-Up, which does nothing as far as caffeine consumption-ment. My synapses just aren't firing today, and I still feel moofy and grumpy from last night.

Oddly enough, I have McGregor and and Kidman singing in my head...

Whee, I'm actually getting things accomplished on this project of mine -- all the pieces were there, it just didn't have any of the connections made (and a few were even made, but simply commented out). I've had to add a few lines, write up a whole new paint() method (ok, so I cut-and-paste most of that, but hell, it's a paint() method!), and change a few things from private to protected (Java gurus in the audience, am I wrong to think that private methods should be inherited?) and viola, it works as it should!

The trouble is, I went in to double-buffer it, so the repainting was smooth, and now my panels are bleeding into each other. Or rather, the left-end of my right panel mimics the left-end of my left panel, if you follow my meaning. And, frankly, that makes no sense!

I need to make an icon for geek-type posts...

She was a vision of beauty. Plates of silver and gold encased her body, a skirt of creamy cloth belted at her hips. Beneath her gilded helm, piercing blue eyes regarded him from behind golden bangs, her face smooth and fair. White-feathered wings flapped once behind her, then folded at her back. In a single sinuous movement, and without breaking eye-contact, she wiped blood from the bladed edge of her pearled sword and sheathed it. His blood. "You and your people have sinned against Saint Tyr." She said, her voice clear as a bell, sharp as a knife, and cold as winter. "This is your punishment." Two similar creatures stood behind her, weapons still drawn; others were around the village, some hovering or circling in the smoke filled skies. The groans of the dying, the crackle of the burning huts, and the whisper of feathered wings were the only sounds. She spat at him then, turned on a silver-booted heel, and took to the air. The two behind her followed then, as did all the others left in the village, until the entire flock was soaring out to the west away from the mountain village which lay in ruins, still burning.
