...or scared the living daylights outta some poor guy, diligently trying to be productive at work.

If you'll look around my Journal, you'll notice a new face - Gene (not-my-brother) posted a comment on my Pop-Tart post, shocked and confused that I, quote, "Don't Like Breakfast," unquote. I replied to the post, natural as could be, but something kept bugging me. This wasn't my brother reading my journal, was it? I mean, not that there's anything wrong with that - it's not like there's anything in here he SHOULDN'T be reading (cept maybe how I swoon over some of these girls, but I'm sure he gets that anyways).

I was pretty sure that Gene-Not-My-Brother was, uhm, not my brother - mostly as that's an interesting pic, but I don't believe Gene-My-Brother would've chosen it (he'd pick some Videogame icon, I'm sure), along with the fact that ANYONE who knows me has heard at least once that i'm not a big breakfast kinda guy.

But it still bugged me.

So, I followed him back to his journal and was immediately relieved to see the record of a certain Roadtrip. Gene-My-Brother, as we all know, can't yet drive. So I was curious as to who this guy was, and seeing as he'd gotten a LiveJournal anyways, I took that as cue to learn everything I possibly could about him.
(Note to Gene-Not-My-Brother, and anyone else who doesn't quite catch this: this whole post is a mixture of sarcasm and facesciousness - I'm not REALLY stalking you. Some people could take this the wrong way and then I'd have legal suits and weid lookd jumping down my throat. Just not pretty, y'know?)

Anyways, his Bio said very, very little, but he had the longest flipping list of interests I've ever seen. It was huge! Among other things it listed Artcars, Moxie, Robotics, Ghost Busters (ad nausium ^_^*), and the abolishment of "compulsory education." I could rewspect him for the Robotics and Ghost Busters, but I had no idea what an artcar was, and only remembered Moxie as that Dog guy on Cartoon Network way back when. You know, voiced by Bobcat? Yeah, so, anyways. Along with that, it seems he agrees (too a point) with me on Education - it shouldn't be mandatory 9that's what complusory means, I've learned). Now, I don't know why, or how, or when, or what he thinks of the whole concept, but he may just be the oinly one I've ever come across who's on the same line as me with that (though, I'm recently unsure of exactly how I view the situation now).

That was Gene-Not-My-Brother's first and second mistakes. He invited me into his world (ie, replied to my post) and he agreed with me (ie, agreed with me). His third mistake was dreadful. He's on AIM as well, and he made the mistake of being on when I added him to my list (Again, not stalking you, just really bored - I should be taking a nap, but we all know THAT'S a joke...).

So, his name popped up (at a warning level of 8% I might add), and I dropped a question about Compulsory Education and the abolishment there of. He was at work, I appologixed, he said it was cool, and so I preceeded to barrage him with questions, as per your average 8-year old child.

With all other escape roughts blocked off, GNMB craftily said "I've got 7 min to finish this, bye." (not word for word, mind you - he was much more tactful) and signed off.

And so, our story ends. I'm going to crawl back in bed now for 1/2 an hour before I gotta go to dinner. *groan* the pain.

I was just talking with Claire (heeee) and gleaned a few interesting tid bits. I dare not record what I've learned here, for fear of losing my edge, but it was enjoyable. She got upset at me for it, and I told her she had plenty of stuff to hold over me, even if she didn't know it. She's got access to the, uhm, sources, where she can find out exactly what, too. I'm not going to say, uhm, anything about these sources here. that'd give it away. And what's the fun in that?

Claire also says she got pleather pants. Yes, pleather. Fun stuff.
Right.
No comments. ^_^*
She dam well better bring them, too, I wanna see.
It's only fair, after all....

We got to talking about how much of a bookworm she is, and I rather envy her for it. Admire is prolly a better word, because envy has a negative connotation. I wish I could read like she does. I also went into how I'm not a good Computer Geek, either. I don't know my computer's specs. I spent highschool out socializing instead of re-wiring my motherboard in my parent's basement. I'm moderately concerned with my general appearance (some whould argue that I'm moderately-to-highly concerned). I only know of so many different video games, disturbingly few of which are mainstream computer staples. And I don't speak Geek.

Claire said I was too hard on myself. I prolly am.

Along those same lines, I've made a few small steps towards learning C++. My friend, Louis, gave me a burned copy of his compiler, and all his C++ progs from highschool, but they're rather sloppy, and not very well documented. Jim, down the hall, said he knew SOME C++. Aaron gave me his C++ progs from Sophmore year at College Park, and they seem to be alot neater and better documented. In all cases, I've LEARNED very little, and I think I may well go out and invest in a "Learn C++" book and just study on my own. Hell, that's how I did all of Highschool.

Just cause it peppers the post with more computer-jargon which I love oh so much, Aaron did go over a couple of his projects with me. He pointed out that C++ "includes" where-as Java "extends", and pointed out a header, though I'm really quite baffled as to what that actually DOES. He tried explaining pointers, and I think I picked up on it, and he showed how to declare variables, and cout and cin (see-out and see-in) statements, each of which is alot better than Java's equivalent commands (System.out.prntln to print stuff, and almost no way to accept input from the user except through the command line, applets, or interfeces and a little code-word). Generally, I like to consider Java the "Windows" of programming - nice for the average computer user, but if you really want to be able to DO anything (much of which could skrew over your entire system) you have to know C++. That's why I want to learn it - it's so much more flexiblel, and once I puzzle it out, oh the power.

OK, enough meaningless babble. I'm sure there's something I could be doing, and if not, you know what that means! Sleep!
