Nine-hundred eighty-eight words. All I need is another three hundred words, minimum, and I'll be home free. This whole paper-writing thing isn't really all that bad. It's the research I can't stand. *wince* Well, not even that. I suppose, given a topic I was interested in and adequate resources, it wouldn't be so bad, either. Interest makes all the difference.
Perhapse I could have been an English Major, after all.

No, not so long as you continue to spell "adequate" that way.

Hush you.
Patronize me not.
On 'effing vowel...

Note the "snarky" description of my icon. Realize that I am attempting, in my little way, to be cute and funny. Perhaps I should refrain from this in the future?

Yes, well, the 'hush you' was meant to be similarly playful banter.
Though, calling me on charges of spelling is a bit below the belt, in my estimate.

With a "dark" icon, you jest?

How is it below the belt? If I spell something wrong, I want to know it!

"With a "dark" icon, you jest?"
Point well taken. But then, it wasn't wholly a jest.

"How is it below the belt?"
Agreed that I'd like to be informed of when I mess up, but the difference is that, for you, misspellings have always been the exception, not the rule. For a guy who not only has been a poor speller (and I do mean really poor) his entire life, and who takes more than a little pride in the fact that he's come a long way, it's still a bit more than a minor bard when someone points it out is such an abrupt manner.
-shrugs- Maybe I'm over-sensitive, and I apologize, but it's a bit of a sore spot, is all.

It's not always the exception in my case. For the longest time, I was spelling "puerile" "peurile"...my mother caught me and corrected me. Anyway...if it's a touchy subject with you, I'll stop trying to make light of it.

-laughs- "Puerile" and "peurile" are one thing -- one may pass it off as a typo. You're talking to a guy who in his worst years spelled so poorly that one could not even begin to guess what he was trying to say. I can't even remember any examples they were so bad -- I'll ask my mom nest time I see her and report back. Spelling tests were the bane of my existence all the way up through 6th grade -- I never learned those clever little spelling rules, and even now have little more grasp of them than 'i before e.' I have come a long way, though, and I attribute most of it to my reading and my love of words, generally.

As for your humor... -shrugs- I don't want you to hold yourself back. -smiles- Far be it for me to squelch humor, yes? And it really doesn't bother me all that badly, so much as it's rather pointing out a flaw I've been fighting, and a stupid flaw at that.  ^_^;;
So, uhm, right, don't silence yourself on account of me, and such.

uhmmmm.... in your post, you spelled the word a-d-e-q-u-a-t-e, did you not? And then someone made fun, and stated that you spelled the word incorrectly, no? Well, you should tell them to check the damn dictionary, because you spelled the word correctly.... and I WAS an English major....

Eh heh, that's a little misleading -- I'm not one to leave a mistake go uncorrected, so I edited the post and put in the correst spelling. i've never been good with spelling -- grammar, perhapse, but not spelling. Leslie always trumps me, there.
Hell, I don't even know whjat 'puerile' means, let alone how to spell it.
