Took a look at my open time, trying to see how I might fit a job (say, at CPIT for $10/hr) into my schedual next semester. At first I though I could only get 12 hours ($120) a week, but after running the numbers a bit (and please check my math and make sure I have no overlap) it looks like I could get almost 28.5 hours ($285) a week, if I tried. I think I would be good at 20 or 22 hours, but at least I know my options.

Date: 2003-03-31 05:47 pm (UTC)Really? Now see, I would not have thought that about you... I mean, you haven't yet run away from me, this crazy girl from another state, who just keeps butting into your journal ^_~ -laughs- No, I know what you mean though, I can be incredibly shy face to face with people, so I have been kinda avoiding any kind of social scene lately, and using school as an excuse... It's so bad! :D

Date: 2003-03-31 08:05 pm (UTC)Most people (my mother included) don't believe me when I say I'm shy...
This (gestures with his arms) is my world. Pure intellect, when you think about it. I have no troubles meeting people here -- infact, I've never really had trouble meeting people. I'm not even that shy face-to-face, really. I just need to feel... comfortable, I guess. Example - if someone comes up to my roommie while we're walking t'class and chats with him for a sec, i'll likely try and fade into the background. Not my place and stuff. but if I were, say, introduced to someone randomly -- well, you've seen how I am, then. Just me.
Perhapse my trouble is i'm too polite. -laughs-

Date: 2003-03-31 04:48 pm (UTC)Well, like I said, I think I'll plan on getting up every morning around 8:00 or so. Nothing, you'll note, starts before 9am. So, if I eat breakfast, I've got plenty of time. Secondly, I'll always get a lunch break during work -- they won't demand I starve myself. I know this because I'm already working for them, and that's how it works. Also, you'll note everything ends at 5pm. Even if I were to go to bed at 10 (and get an amazing 10hrs of sleep), I would have a good 5 hours or so for Dinner and Homework. I don't expect to work more than 18 or 20 hours in a week, and I'll have more time in the evenings than 5 hours. And I'll be sure to get a little time, including the weekends, to see family and friends so I don't lose myself (as I tend to do when I feel separated).
-nuzzle- Don't worry, dear, I'll be sure to take care of myself.
I thought I was committing suicide...
Date: 2003-07-22 06:34 am (UTC)Um... your math looked fine, but I know for a fact that bilocation is impossible (I have tried) so you can be finishing a class at 1:00 and starting qork at 1:00... get my drift? So... I'd say, give yourself the 1:00 to 2:30 block (it'd the shortest one up there) for eating or homework or a nap or whatever. It'll only shave 3 hours off your work time, and you'll have just that much more time to yourself, so you don't die on us!
Otherwise... umm... good luck with that. :-)

Date: 2003-07-22 07:24 am (UTC)Well, yes, but you see, the actual times are offset -- that is, class doesn't really end at 1:00, it ends at 12:50 or so. And fudging a few minutes at work won't kill anyone. I'll probably eat at work, but at least as far as oncampus goes, they don't mind that too much, either. So I won't die, and I'll be sure to pull back if I feel I'm getting in too deep. Especially with what CPIT and NRL will pay me, I can afford to work a little lerss than when it was just DSS and JP2.
