My opinion of Bush...? -shrugs- He's a President. Which means he's a politician. Which means as a rule I don't trust him. He seems like a decent guy, and the fact that he's a practicing christian at least gives me the hope that he has some kind of moral code which I can agree with. people yank on the whole intelligence thing, but I would argue that he's got to know something to get where he is, so... I would argue he's doing at least as well as anyone else would, and it's easy for the random armchair politician to go out and attack a man who, for most intents and purposes, can not defend himself.

My opinion on the war...? War is never a good think, but sometimes it is a necessary thing. You're talking to a Navy Brat, so the thought that I might believe fighting to be wholly intolerable, I think, is a bit off. I believe whole-heartedly that sometimes you have to stand up for what you believe, you're values and all. This war? I'm still undecided. I don't know if I agree with Bush's reasons for war, but I also can't claim I know what they are. To my knowledge, Saddam is a cruel dictator who's a threat to his own people if nothing else. Though I can't say I agree that the US should be the World's Police, I can say that we are not wholly unjustified in moving to eliminate Saddam. Anything more than that, and I claim too much ignorance to really make a firm stance.

My thoughts precisely. I don't like politicians, and I don't really like Bush - but I'd be a lot more unhappy were Gore sitting in the White House right now. And the Christian thing gives me some hope, too...although, looking at other practicing Christians like Pat Robertson makes me realize that just 'cause somebody professes a faith in God doesn't necessarily mean they're a good person out to do only righteous things. The fact that Bush allowed the wholly intolerable Patriot Act to pass is enough to raise my eyebrows.

War is never a good think, but sometimes it is a necessary thing.

Indeed. A necessary evil, as it were, to undo a greater evil (we hope).

Of course...

He DID graduate from Harvard, so he can't be entirely stupid. He's got the degrees and I doubt they'd just give it to him. No matter how much money he has...

Right, right - I know plenty of people who can't speak very well, but who are very smart indeed. Hell...if intelligence was placed totally in one sphere, I would be considered mentally retarded, 'cause I can't even multiply and divide.
