Well, this weekend was really quite a trip (in more ways then one), and as I just sat dozing in my bed for a couple hours, I guess I should take this oportunity to write the tell-all exclusive. I would like to randomly thank the girl who, though she couldn't chat, took two minutes to IM me and say 'hi.' If nothing else, it was good t'know she's still around.

I'm a great advocate of the goodness of people. I think, deep down, people are basically good, and we have an inclination to do the right thing and be decent human beings.
Sometimes, though, people really suck.

Friday is when the weekend started, and I had everything ready to be out on the road, headed for Virginia Beach before Noon. Except for one little detail -- my car was stuck in a 2-foot snowdrift.
>_<  Right.
Anyways, there were a couple ladies shoveling their car out. Two ladies, two shovels, I figured asking to borrow one would be nothing. But oh no, when I asked, the Older ladie lookd at me like I'd just grown a third head and said "No, we're using them."
Lovely. I eventually did find a shovel, and broke my back trying to get my car out of the snow, but I didn't get out of there until 2pm. Whee.

I got down to Virginia Beach around 6pm, and met with Jenny and the gang for Olive Garden. Unfortunately, the wait was over an hour, but we had fun hanging around. It was nice to see Beth H. again. Dinner was good, and I managed to get mom to get a couple plates of Calimari for us (I love Calimari) and it was good. After dinner, Me, mom, Beth, sand Jenny went back to her place and played Cranium while 'watching' My Fair Lady. Then I drove Beth home and followed mom back to the hotel.
And Emi recognized my voice.  ^_^  She'sw the cutest little thing. Thinks she's 6, and she won't be 2 yet for another couple weeks.

Saturday was pretty much taken up entirely with my 10-hour car trip from Virginia to Ohio. It was actually pretty good, though I probably could have benefitted from an extra stop or two to streach. I made it with little trouble around 8pm, and Meredith Glomped me as soon as the door was open.  ^_^  I likie. We had a couple other people show up -- Tyler was there, and I haven't seen him in forever, and Clare and Courtney, too.

"You two should get along -- you go for any guy in sight, and you're always after the girls."
A pause.
"So... I'm single, how about you?"

Jessie showed up later on for some Rachel-concelling and ended up getting snowwed in, which was cool. She was really nice (and cute, too), and we all had a fun time 'watching' Pippin. Unfortunately, Jenny B. got in a bad accident, popping out several of her car's windows. Luckily she was fine, but she needless to say didn't make ity over.

Sunday we all got up late (except Kate, who had t'sing for early mass) and got dressed up for Mere's Confirmation. It was a nice service, all told (especially with the cookies et al afterwards) and then we went to Golden Corral for Dinner followed by a showing of Jesus Christ Superstar. Sadly, the lead (that's Jesus) really sucked as both an actor and a singer -- he was only there cause of his big name. But Rachel had us watch the 'good version' when we got home, and I simply adored it. So much so that I think I want to try and write a prose version of the show -- my own attempt at 'fan fiction' perhapse, exceot it'll just be a re-telling of the play. If I ever get around to it, I'll post it here.

We got snow Sunday night, enough to keep the girls out of school, so I stuck around until 2pm before heading out -- I really didn't want to, but I'd already missed two days of classes, and there's so much I should have done by now. It was 8hrs back to DC, and I got here at about 10pm.

It was a grand weekend, and I think it meant alot to Meredith that I was there for her confirmation, me being her Sponsor and all. I know it meant alot to me that I be there, but... I gave here a CD I burned for the occasion (it's what I do) and let her bowwow a book I'd had -- which she's ALREADY finished. And it wasn't a small book, either. But, now I have another reason t'go see them sometime -- to get my stuff back!

And I guess that's pretty much it. I think I'm tired again, so I'm going to go back to bed.
Tomorrow isn't going to be fun.  >_<

Update [13:13]: Dude, I almost forgot how much I loved that show! Just reading the lines of 'Superstar' and 'Heaven On Their Minds' and going through it in my head, I'm all psyched about this project again. w00+
Much thanks to Raquel, to whom I give credit for introducing me to possibly the best show I've ever seen. -nods-

Truer words were never spoken.

I think that sounds really cool. I'd so read that. ::grins:: Y'know, I'm pretty sure my beloved Whigs covered a song from "Jesus Christ Superstar" - one called "The Temple"...goes like, "My temple should be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves. Get Out! Get Out! Mine time is almost through, little left to do. After all I've tried for 3 years, seems like 30, seems like 30..." Purdy kewl.

Hee hee, well, once this cold subsides, I think I may be able to think clearly enough to start writing on that. I think it'll be really fun, so long as I can describe everything well enough. I absolutely ADORE the remade movie, and I have every intention of going to Amazon.com or something and buying both the DVD and the Soundtrack.

And yes, that is one of the songs -- I'd be very interested in hearing the Whig's cover of it. I LOVE the music to that show, my favorite song being 'Superstar,' I believe, as sung by Judas. It's an awesome show.

"Every time I look at you
I don't understand
Why you let the things you did
Get so out of hand.
You'd have managed better
If you'd had it planned.
Now why'd you choose such a backward time
And such a strange land?"

I've never seen the show, but I've heard some of the music, and liked it. 'Course, Andrew Lloyd Webber's the bomb diggity.

Interesting note -- there are no spoken lines in the whole show -- it's all songs, though some of it does sound spoken to me. -shrugs- So, yeah, I got the lyrics to all the songs and thus pretty much have the whole show to work from. -nods-

So is that Whigs song a cover of one of the songs in it?

Oh, yes, that's definately a cover from Jesus Christ Superstar. As soonm as I get home from classes t'night, I'm gonna go on Kazaa and see if I can find it (and/or others like it).

Good luck. I just looked on Kazaa and couldn't find it. My Whiggies don't seem none too popular on Kazaa. I'd give it to ya, but - wouldn't you know - it's on the one Whigs album I refused to ever own up until about two months ago, when I realized I liked most of the songs on it...and now I can't find it. ::sobs::

Yes. The tour version SUCKED. But the show is absolutely AMAZING. So Leslie, if you want to see it, go out and rent or find and borrow the version starring Glenn Carter as Jesus and Jerome Pradon as Judas (it's the newest version. 2000 I think.) But whatever you do, do NOT see the version that is on tour starring Sebastian Bach, because he sucked horribly. And the 1970's movie is just way to 70's and Jesus ain't no great shakes in that one either.

The song you are referring too IS called "The Temple"... there's a whole lot more to that scene though. I was a soloist (one of the sick people who are attacking him to heal them) in that song when I was in it, so it holds a special place in my heart. :-)

And Andrew, I have a better idea than you burning random songs and not necessarily getting a good cast. Hows about I just burn you a copy of the Concept Cast recording that I have (which isn't the movie, but it is very good), and mail it to you? Then the only song you would need to download is "Could We Start Again Please?" and in that case, you want the Movie Version starring Yvonne Elliman as Mary. :-)

And just as a side note -

Judas is the best! :-) I want to play him! :-)

Just thought I'd let you all know that. ;-)

It is the best show I've ever seen. Ever.
The Lepers were part of "The Temple?"
I never planned on burning random songs, but DLing Covers. I have every intention on buying the Soundtrack to the movie (I assume it exists) but if you wanna send me what you've got, I wouldn't protest.

And, yes, Judas MAKES that show. Jesus may be the center, but Judas is the star.
-shrugs- They both die on trees. -GRINS-
