She got up, sliding slowly, silently out of bed so as not to wake him. She wrapped the soft robe around herself and went out into the hall. The street-lamps cast soft, eerie yellow light through the house, throwing shadows at odd angles. The house she knew by the daylight became alien. But the alien-ness was familiar.

A board creaked as she walked across the threshold, as it always did. He wouldn't hear it. She settled herself into the same chair, looked out the same window. Snow was falling outside, but it wasn't sticking. It just left the world damp and oily-looking.
She looked out the window, and she cried.

A few hours later when the sun woke her up, she would climb quietly back into bed.
His alarm would be going off soon.

Very nice imagery, Andrew, very nice. It really conveys the dreariness of this snippet well.

You said all of these little bits fit back together in the end? Or just some?

^_^ I'm glad you liked it, Beth.
Yeah, that image was pseudo-inspired (http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=surichan&itemid=150994). A number of things that happened last night when into the scene, actually. It was quite fun to write, though I wish my spurts of creativity lasted more than five minutes. Once it did, but...

And actually, no - none of these are meant to connect in the slightest, actually. I toy with different ideas now and again, and I was thinking that quite a few of my other posts could eventually be fleshed out and drawn in together, but each is meant to be a completely sepparate entity. I just get these flashes where I see a scene and feel a mood and I try to get it onto paper (all of these scenes actually exist as hard copies, scattered throughout my various school notebooks. ^_^;; ). It's fun.
