Angelfire does not allow remote-hosting. The bastiches.
And apparently, the Browser Title in Default Styling can not be over-ridden.
I am quite intrigued by this whole 'design your own style' thing, however. I may look into it further.
I'm not looking for somewhere other than Angelfire to host my pictures - all I want is a place I can stick pictures so that I can show them off here. Angelfire denies that desire. The bastiches.
I seem to have quickly filled my Icon allotment. I left one space open, so as to make switching pictures more convenient. This may change, however, if I find a new Icon I like.
I think this is most definately worth the $2.50 a month.
I've been driving now for a couple years, and my innate savoir-faire (or just dumb luck) has kept me out of accidents (well, major ones, at least, and none my fault) and preserved me from being pulled over. I've had a few close calls - like that time I was doing 85mph down I-64, and I was sure that Cop was going to come get me, but he didn't. The only ticket I've ever gotten was for parking out of zone, and I would have even disputed that one (I was in zone at the time) except for the fact that I'd been parked there for several weeks. And it's only supposed to be 4 hours, 6am-7pm, Mon-Fri.
That hasn't changed, but...
On Friday, we hit traffic on I-64 trying to get to NekoCon. I was in the left lane, in a string of cars about 5 lengths long. All of a sudden I see lights, and figuring it was a Cop trying to get to the Accident up ahead, I get over to the right, as does the guy infront of me. But rather than go past, the lady starts yelling out her window at me: "This is a 55-zoine, and you're gunning it!" She said more, but none of it made much sense, then she went by me and yelled at the guy ahead of me, and went her way. We waited a couple cars and then got back to the left.
Now, besides the fact that she was a bitch about it, I can respect that she was doing her job. And I didn't get a ticket or anything, so I really can't complain. But (I will anyways), we were in TRAFFIC. I can admit I wasn't quite aware of my speed, but if nothing else we were going with the flow of traffic, and regardless we weren't GOING anywhere. So that's that bit.
Later on that night, me and Louis went out to the Bank, so I could deposit my check. On the way back, we got into a really good conversation (I think me and Louis connected over the weekend, it was cool). We were going down the far end of Princess Anne, between Kempsville and Newtown. It was about 2am, and the road was deserted, when I saw the lights come up. This time I knew it was for me (I was the only car out there) and pulled over. The cop then proceeded to blind me with his light. I pulled out my liscence, but really had no idea where the registration was - hell, I didn't even know what it was I was looking for. But I gave him my liscence and found the registration. Here's how it went:
"Where are you going this evening?"
"To an Anime Convention, sir. Right jown the street."
"Mr. Portner, are you aware this is a 35-zone?"
"Yes sir."
"Do you know how fast you were going, Mr. Portner?"
"No sir. I wasn't paying attention, I'm sorry."
"You were doing 52 when you passed me. Are you still living on Middlewood Ct?"
"No sir, I've moved up to DC."
"And you're just down here for the convention?"
"Yes sir."
"OK, Mr. Portner, do me a favor. Try and pay attention to the signs."
"Yes sir, thank you."
And he handed me back my liscence and let me go on my way. I admit I wasn't paying attention to my speed, but I was being careful about my driving - it was a straight, clear road which I've been down countless times. ::Shrugs:: Truely no excuse for carelessness, and I admit i'm at fault for that, but there really wasn't any present danger at all. And he let me go with a warning, which i'm glad for.
One thing occured to both Louis and I after speaking with the Cop - he sounded just like Agent Smith. Thought some of you girls might appreciate that.
Whee! Break out the champaign supernova! I just finished checking all the songs I've downloaded in the last few months and moved them into my Library folder, and I just hit 2,000 mp3s! w00+

Date: 2002-11-15 05:08 pm (UTC)My second accident, my and my parents had gone out to a Mexican restaurant, and they'd had tequilas or some such, so I was driving home (they were fine, for the most part, but just to be safe...). So I'm sitting in one of two turn-only lanes, the light turns green, and the guy next to me totally cuts me off and goes into my lane. To keep from hitting him, I apply my breaks, duh, but the guy BEHIND me doesn't, and he kinda runs into our back. Again, VERY low speed, so there wasn't alot of damage, but it put a nice dent in Dad's new car and really rather shook me up - I didn't want to finish driving home, but mom made me, so it wasn't so bad.
