Every New Beginning
Today started a little frantically, actually. Paul never came back last night. Now then, he'd been a quiet loner the whole time, so we weren't REALLY concerned when we didn't see hem last night, but Claire got a little concerned when his bed was still empty this morning. She and Heather ran out to find him, and only a minute later he came up to the room. He went back out to find them after claiming that he'd be locked out, but I don't think his story holds up well.
We all started getting our stuff packed up, and Louis, Sean and I took our stuff out to my car, and got back in time to meet Claire finishing her shower. We chatted while she got into her costume, then I helped her take the rest of the stuff down to her car (admittedly after Sean pointed out what a putz I was being - not that he or Louis were any better - but I'd planned on taking the stuff down with her either way). We then checked out and met Kim in the Art Auction - where she'd already made $105 from two of her pieces. When all was said and done, she made some $120, pretty much making up everything she spent. That was cool. Louis and I also went to ConOps to see if we could find out the winners to the AMV Contest, since we couldn't stay to Closing, and it was confirmed that he won first place! Whoo! It was grand - no one was surprised, but Kim got really excited for Louis, too, and made note that his was the only vid that really kept her attention.
After all this, we'd finished our stuff, and were headed out, I led the way to Taco Bell for lunch, and we ate in the car on the way back up to Richmond, cause Claire neded to get home by 4:00. I had the same people in my car, minus Paul (cause he had to ride with Claire) and we listened to some of my older stuff and some of Louis's mix. Louis and Ben quickly fell asleep, and Sean occupied himself bydoing some reading, while I followed the green SUV. The ride was, as in the beginning, beautiful, what with the changing leaves of fall, but it was also exhilerating just because of they ConHigh we were on - the good times and cool people and such.
We got back to Claire's and slowly said our good-bye's. Sean was first off, and Claire had to drive the girls home. Louis and I said our goodbyes, and were off ourselves, and had a great, long chat all the way back. I dopped him off at his place at about 7:00 and that, truely, is when the Con ended.
As I said before, this Con was awsome, not nessisarily because of how it was run, but because of who it was spent with. Taran was awsome - she even seemed to get a kick out of my laugh. It's good when someone doesn't rag on me for that, y'know? Kim was grand, and as it was pointed out, there's alot more going on with that girl that at first seems. She really is kinda cool. I gotta spend time with Leslie and Beth and Rae, and even met Meghan, who's a really cool and awsome girl. ^__^ I like to think me and Heather hit it off from the start, but I know I liked her from the begining, and Sean was really cool - I hope he had a good time, cause I know I had a blast with him there. Louis said he was glad I invited him, cause he got to have GOOD sushi, and hung out with people who he probably wouldn't have, normally. That was cool, but we also gotta talk, which was awsome, cause I think maybe he and I really have alot in common. And me and Claire had some good times, too - it wasn't akward or anything like I was afraid it might be (as far as I'm aware), and in fact we had some really great just freind moments. It was just good. So, I got to meet some great people (particularly Meghan and Patrick), find some old friends (Carrie-Anne and Dan-chan), reconnect with my close friends (Leslie, Louis, and Claire) and just had an AWSOME time with everyone else. And damn was the dancing wonderous.
As a final note on people, Ben's nickname, Skullfuck, stuck a little more than just his name tag. Somewhere along the line, a bet was made that pretty much turned Claire's cousin in to some deranged mutant pokemon - all he was allowed to say for the entire Con was "Skullfuck" (and variations, like skullfucked or skullfucker). Even with that, he managed to get with a girl at the Con. THAT takes skill (or just alot of tape and ink...).
So, in closing, yes, Mel and anyone else interested, I had a wonderful time at Nekocon, and I'm so looking forward to doing it again soon (in the next year or so), especially if we can get the same people together. I'm happy.
Some Advice I Should Heed, Perhaps: Pay attention to the ones who care, before trying to get the attention of the ones who don't, because before you know it the ones who used to care won't care anymore and the ones who didn't care before still won't.

And YES. Megan is indeed VERY awesome and lovely and all that. I miss her SO MUCH out here in California. I swear, you really don't know who quite makes the area worthwhile until they leave.
Anyway... yay for con goodness. Makes me happy that everything went well. ::smile::
