Tired...so very tired...well, OK, not really, but I just wanna post and go t'bed.
I had a Con in Africa - well, Fairfax, but it's close enough. See, Louis calls me up on Wednesday and needs a ride. See, he's entered one of his vids (I think he said the Angel Sancuary/Chop Suey one) into the contest at Anime USA, and while he could get out there, he couldn't get back. I told him sure, it wouldn't be a problem, and even though I had work till 5:00 all weekend long (including Monday) I could still bail him out with a ride or three - what are friends for? So we plan for him to meet me here on Friday (today) at 6:00 and i'll give him a ride over there and back. Me being who I am, I go about the intervening days figuring I'll just be a shuttle-bus, as it never occured to me to actually PARTICIPATE in the con myself - I have no budget for that.

Of course, once Louis gets here, he starts talking about me getting a two day badge for $30 and stuff and I figure I'd best go anyhow - Louis needs a friendly face, as Con I imagine are no fun alone. So I shell out the $30 and get a badge (that's number THREE, buddy) and we start about. Neither of us has a room, and I have work tomarrow, so we figure we'll stay for - I guess it turned out to be about six hours - and then head home for some rest. We watched an hour of "Earth Girl Arjuna," which was a mildly entertaining, if very preachy, tree-hugger Anime. It had some funny parts, but I don't think they were intended - the after effects of a mediocre dub.

After that (and chatting with the three in the row ahead of us about how odd an Anime that was) we went over to watch Kareoke for a while (and bump into the same three, Ms. Duo, Ms. Katre, and Hiei). That's fun, and we joke with the three ahead of us a bit. See quite a number of Cosplayers milling around, and then decide to ditch out at 10:00 to see the Anime Music Videos that were supposed t'be.

Inside, they were either setting up or tearing down something, and we met Vic of Vicbond007 Productions. I learned he was the creator of the Eva/This Isn't What We Meant video, and thus had much respect (though, he was dressed up as some lab-assistant -- Louis seemed to think it was supposed t'be Gendo). He was an odd mix AV-Computer Geek, which many AMVers seem to be, and he had a water-cooled computer system. O.o Weird. He was also handing out FREE demo CDs of his stuff, and as I'll take most anything that's FREE, I took it.

The Three later walked in, but I don't think Louis really liked them much - he was quite fine that they were on the other side of the room. I kinda liked Ms. Duo - she was funny.
We then met another three, curtacy of Red, a girl who came in with black-dyed-red-in-the-front hair, to hold some seets cause her friend forgot her badge. I suppose it's needless to say that Red was quite attractive. ^_^ Her friends came down, and they started talking about how they were gonna CosPlay Final Fantasy Tactics at Nekocon this year, and a whole group of us started talking with them, it was really cool. We also spoke with a guy, Mike, who was really cool, and turned out to be the guy in charge of what shows they were, well, showing for the Con. He also gave me a list of Techno artists to look up, so I'm interested to see what they're like. VNV Nation he said was his favorite, and Industrial, so....

As far as the vids went, there wasn't mutch to see - an Akira, a few Dragon Ball Z, the X Trailer. There were two that stand out as pretty cool - one anime that looiked rather dark with Queensrych (who I've never heard of, but apparently should have) singing "Scarborough Fair" and the new Vampire Hunter D done to the Batman Theme. That. was. Cool. Definatly a far-cry from the fan-servicy '70s Reject I remember the first one being. I want that new DVD, now.
I'm in ecstacy. O.o

Our group finally got reprimanded for talking durring the vids (oopsies) and me and louis, seeing as it was almost the Witching Hour, decided to jet. We got out of there, stopped at Taco Bell (where they skrewed up our order) and got him back to his place to see Christine, his older sister, come home. Christine, I think, is really cool, and I kinda like her. She's very much the opposite of just about EVERYTHING I would ever look for in a girl, but she is pretty, and funny, so she's cool.

From there, I told Louis I'd head over to the Con after work (since I got the badge anyways) and he said he'd call me Cell if I wasn't there by 6:30 or so. So yeah, I'm going to a Con this weekend. w00+
I sleep now. ><*

Addendum: I've decided I really like the way my Larva Icon looks. Whee! *collapses*

Water-cooled!!! ::snerk:: Sorry, sorry...it's just that...I found out over the summer that my dear ex Edween has himself a water-cooled computer now too...and that it's a totally unnecessary thing unless you have what Chris calls a "Mega-Deus" computer - a really friggin' huge system...most of the time, for people working with their own PCs, no matter how extravagant, it's completely bogus to have such a thing.

Is the new Vampire Hunter D really that good?? I thought about seeing it, but didn't like the first one.

So the con's this weekend?? Beans. ^_^ I hope Louis kicks that AMV contest's ass!!!

Well, I think it's given that this Vic dude is a real Computer Nerd, but yeah, water-cooled is definatly not a must-have. if nothing more, it gets coolfactor points, though. As far as Edween, goes (not not to call him a Geek - that's a badge of honor comming from me) I call that species "Fasion Geeks." They are geeks, so you have to give them that, but they're also the kinda guy who goes and buys the newest thing BECAUSE it's the newwest thing. Sometimes my roomie's like that. he keeps telling me all this stuff I needa get for my computer, and i'm like "Dude, I just need a new processor."

YES, the new D looks that good. And by that good I mean I may shell out the money to get the DVD right now. The art looiks magnificent - NOTHING like the old D. The plot lines may flow along similar veins, but that's where the similarities end.

And yes, the con's this weekend. Just got outta work, and I'm off!
