Dec. 15th, 2006 08:25 pmWell, as of this morning at about 9:30 I went from being an actual member of the work force to just another student. That actually makes me a lot more sad that I would have thought. I'm really going to miss those guys -- Matt, Nick, and Stuart in particular. Good guys. They want me to come back and work for them after I graduate, and I'd like to, but I'm not sure how feasible it is. I mean, not that I've ever been really career-minded, but I don't think they can offer me the kind of salaries or 'upward mobility' (to throw in a random buzzword) that other offers could give me.
Today I planned on getting my apartment cleaned up. I managed to condense a few piles of clothes, trash, and papers, but that was about it. Around noon I went out and spend the afternoon with Leslie, getting food, talking about boys and girls and how I've had a crush on Clea DuVall (currently of Heroes fame, where she plays Agent Audrey Hanson opposite Officer Matt Parkman) since before I knew who she was. (Fun fact: she's the only actress, or girl in general, who I think is attractive both as a blond and a brunette.) We got lunch at a lil' Mexican restaurant that she's partial to, I introduced her to the music of Jonathan Coulton (which she has dubbed Geek Rock), and then we parted ways around 5:00 so she could write her paper and I could come back here and... no nothing particularly constructive. Which I've been doing, rather successfully, for most of the last three hours.
I have approximately three days before I move out of my apartment. I have no apartment in California yet. I have roughly two weeks before I leave on my cross-country trip. I have a regular paycheck from now until the end of September '07. I have a thesis I have to write before then. I wish she would email me back. I have pretty much finished all of my Christmas shopping for my family, nearly all of which should arrive in the mail at my parents' place about the same time I arrive in the car.
And now I am going to: (1)clear my desk, (2)make some dinner and eat it, (3)continue to finish starting to sort my massive M:tG collection, read more of 1984, and/or play video games, in some order or another. All things considered, I'm doing nicely.
Oh, and I'd like to say publicly: congratulations to my friend
mmeubiquitous, who gave birth to a baby girl last week. Yay.
OK, I'm done now.
