Catching Up, Part One.
Jan. 8th, 2006 06:30 pmOK, so, while I'm procrastinating on packing (I just got back!), I thought I would go ahead and write up a little bit on the posts I've been meaning to get around to. Hopefully I'll be able to make them sensible sorts of things, but no promises.
The very first thing I did when I got home was to go see my cousin Christina. I kind of feel bad about it because there'd been some miscommunication and mom had planned spaghetti for dinner for that first night, and I wasn't planning on being there. I'm a very sentimental sort, and the thought of this disappointment still make me a little sad. But, I went up to see Christina.
Christina (who I've always known as Tina, the same way she's always known me as Andy) is roughly 5 years younger than me (1836 days, give or take a few hours) and a big-time artist sort. It's funny because, according to her, she was afraid of me when we were younger; she spent most of her time with my sister. She was in 8th Grade when I went East for College, but she was the oldest of all my cousins out there, and over the years we got really close. When I moved out here, leaving her was as hard as leaving anyone else.
Currently, she's a Senior in highschool and her art club was doing a Coffee House thing, which seemed to be a cross between Talent Night and a bake-sale. It was a little weird, being a college graduate back in a highschool. But I knew a few of Christina's friends before anyways, and some of the music was pretty good, too. We also took my cousin Molly, Tina's little sister, and Molly's friend. Molly is 13 now, which means she's almost a Real Person, so it was really nice to spend some time with her (even if she was swooning over some Sophomore all night, and she thinks being a Highschooler is the coolest thing ever, a perception I got over *years* ago. :p).
The second thing I did was go to see Anastasiya, which was very nice. We went Christmas shopping, but I didn't find anything I liked, so we just went back to her place and sat and talked over coffee. I think I've decided that coffee, much like smoking, is a habit that can be gained in two ways. Either one takes to it to deal with stress (or sleep deprivation, I guess), or one is drawn into it socially. There was one spot where:
ANDREW kisses ANASTASIYA on the forehead
ANASTASIYA: (jokingly) Careful, Zach's going to kill you.
ANDREW: Hey, I'm not kissing you n the lips.
ANASTASIYA: No, but you want to.
ANDREW: Oh yes.
It was amusing. -smiles-
